Advice on "disposing" of bulky coins

This may be better on the BST, but I'm going to post here first.

I bought a brick of the Washington $'s, and 100 of the FDCC. I think I got caught up in the craze. I ended up overextending myself, and now I need the money for something a little more important to me. Since these are bulky/heavy products that aren't worth much of a premium over what I bought them at, I don't want to mess with shipping. If I take them to a coin show to sell:

a) Will I be able to find a buyer?
b) If so, what could I expect to get?

The Ohio State Numismatic Association show is in a few weeks, and I was hoping to unload them there, along with a few other items taking up room in my safe.
Successful transactions with: goldman86, dmarks, CoinFame, segoja, commoncents05, wondercoin, Dabigkahuna, Levinll, RNCHSN, MrOrganic, Type2, ModernCoinMart, alohagary, BECOKA, guitarwes, rbf, fishteeth, freechance, agentjim007, PQPeace, Russ, GSAGuy

    Craze? What craze?

You could always spend the $1's.

Already spent about 500 GW $'s! Strange thing is, I keep expecting to get weird looks or questions, but everyone has just happily accepted them or just asked if these were the new dollar coins.

Can't bring myself to crack the seal on the brick though. Maybe the craze is all in my head. I see a new mint product and I want it.

Spend away man, spend. How much is a brick?
Family, kids, coins, sports (playing not watching), jet skiing, wakeboarding, Big Air....no one ever got hurt in the air....its the sudden stop that hurts. I hate Hurricane Sandy. I hate FEMA and i hate the blasted insurance companies.

Why not just take the brick to the bank?

As mentioned just deposit the brick into your checking account. It would be the same as giving them 1000 rag bucks they might not like it but will take them.
The covers might sell at a show. Or another idea is that I have seen them listed in bulk lots on eBay. And flat rate boxes for mailing are not that costly.

Didja spend more than face value for the brick? If not, take it to the bank or you can do the coin show and likely get face anyway (at which point, the dealer will sell them for $1.75 each to people image ).

If you paid more than face, then make a decision if you need the $1000 enough to possibly eat whatever loss you will incur from getting only face.

For the GW FDCC, you can seel on the BST or just send back to the USMint...you should still be in your 30 day period, right?

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

  • You should be able to undercut everyone on eBay with unopened 50 coin FDCC boxes and still make about $200 profit, after fees, for selling 100 FDCCs.
I heard they were making a French version of Medal of Honor. I wonder how many hotkeys it'll have for "surrender."

Spent face on the brick, but I don't want to tick of my bank by bringing it back, they've been pretty good about helping me out with coins. I may post on the BST and see if I can get any takers for both, if not, I'll pursue some of the other suggestions. Thanks everyone.

It's money... just spend it.... do not sweat the profit angle... win some, lose some - the others get rained out. Cheers, RickO

Don't bother your friendly bank with your problem, if they were kind enough to order the coins for you. Spend them instead.

If you would like my address, I would be glad to pay postage and "dispose" of these bulky items for you image
