At my local show, I have seen a lot more third tier slabs in dealer's cases. Watch out for those. A lot of dealers are going to have Morgans, so be ready. Bring a loupe and have an idea what you're looking for and about what to pay. Have Fun!!!

It is always better to bring something and end up not needing it than to forget it. I would take it along and if you park close to the show, leave it in the car (but not in plain sight) and come get it if you need it. I would also take along anything that you're interested in selling as well. You can sell to dealers and offer trades as well. Also, never pay full price for the coin, always dicker with the dealer for him to come down. The prices are usually inflated allowing for this.

I think the technical term is "coin-weenie".

Do not worry about how or what you look like - believe me, you will see plenty of weirdo's on both sides of the tables.... just go as yourself, and as prepared as possible. Do not make impulse buys as soon as you enter.. take your time.. look around. If something you like gets sold, well, not to worry - there will be more. No one ever got ripped by passing up a coin. jpo1965, turn on your PM Function in your user profile so that you can recieve private msgs. I also like Carson City Morgan. Here is a link to my Morgan Registry Set:

Then PM me if you have any questions about collecting Morgans or attending the coin show!

I suggest that you make friends....., ask the person on the other side of the table what HIS/Her favorites are. Try to pick his or her brain. Learn , laugh and each individual dealer will take kindly to you. They will sell you something of value if you just ask them.

If your wife is that caring and understanding, I suggest you skip the coin show and take her to a nice restaurant instead. There will be other coin shows, but only one wife.
