1909 Wheat Cent Error? Help Needed

Ok here is one that I have never seen before, I'm by no means an expert on the subject, so any and all comments/help/jokes will be appreciated.

If someone knows a good link to a web site that helps ID this kind of error? please share it with us.

the IN is pretty cool looking, but i'm going to guess damage, but i don't really know.

I don't see how it can be anything other than physical damage of some sort, that surely happened many years ago. It does not show much sign of scraping, etc., other than the dislocated letters, and the 'disappeared' letters. I just don't see how this could have happened at the Mint.

I agree that it is definitely an interesting coin though.

I could be wrong, but it looks like the kind of damage done by counting machines.

my vote is damage. something really put a lot of pressure on that
side of the coin and rim.
