Question on 2006 ASE...

I sent 2 sets in sealed mint box to PCGS and they recieved them on 1/17/07.

I was expecting to the get the 20th anniversary label on all the coins. Just got the designation on the reverse proofs.

Called CU and they told me they had to be sent by 11/06 for the other coins to recieve the 20th anniversary designation.

Sounds reasonable, I reckon.

Does anyone know if I got the correct information or perhaps someone new on the job?? TIA. jws

edited for date.

My understanding was if the box was still sealed from the mint, all 3 coins would receive the designation. I assume 11/07 s/b 11/06? I'm pretty sure the last batch I sent in was late December and all mine were all 20th Ann. maybe they thought your box had been opened?

I understood that if they were sent in the mint sealed box that all 3 coins in the sets would receive the 20th anniv.label.If sent in outside the mint sealed box only the rev. proof would receive it.I have been given wrong info very recently by Pcgs customer service and unless they thought the box had been opened I believe you should have gotten the 20th anniv, designation on all the coins.I f you have already gotten the coins back I would say you are sh_t out of luck!

Yep; I've had the coins back for some time.
I do know I sent the box in unopened.
In the grand scheme of things and over time the designation may not be that important. I was pleased with the grades. Thanks. jws

  • I shipped mine sealed in the Mint box a couple of months ago, and they were all slabbed with the 20th label.
Forgot to ask them to return the original Mint packaging though.image

  • Had a friend who took his unopened mint sealed box of 10 sets to PCGS to get them graded. He was able to open the case there and look the coins over before submitting them. He ended up deciding they were all worthy of slabbing and submitted all of them. When they posted on the site he noticed only the reverse proof coins were labelled with the 20th Anniversary. He called them and straightened it out and they reslabbed them all with the 20th label. That was last month. Unfortunately not a single 70.
