Probably a stupid question....

I recently came across a rather strange coin in change. It has a penny (tails) side, and a dime (tails) side. I suspect it has been created but it certainly look original and official. Could someone possibly help me with this. I was thinking perhaps it is used in magic acts or something like that.

  • You are correct on both accounts - fabricated. I think they are called "a magician's coin".

Yeah, I got one of those at birthday party back in the day. You have the obverse of the 'penny' and the reverse of the 'dime' that fit into each other. Its supposed to be a trick to turn a penny into a dime.

Did it look something like this?

    Roll Tide or War Eagle?
  • highly unlikely and practically impossible for it to be authentic but a picture would seal the deal...
