David Dejesus has been disappointing lately. He got off to a great start, hitting .330 for about the first month and a half, now down in the .270's.

Got a rough road trip to kick off the second half in Cleveland, Boston and Detroit. Wound up 5-4 and taking the Boston & Detroit series, two division leaders. We're something like 32-28 over the last 60 games. Things are starting to look up.

I'm not totally sold on DeJesus. It doesn't seem like he's exceptional in any one area to garner the hype he has gotten around here. He's a solid contact hitter, but he doesn't seem to be a guy who will do much more than 10-15 hr's and steals a year. If he can consistently hit .330 then you could justify batting him leadoff, like a Wade Boggs type.

Hopefully we can get another solid leadoff hitter and be able to hit him 6th or 7th where he probably belongs.

I heard on the YES broadcast that major renovations are planned for the "K". Hopefully that will result in continued improvements for the team as well.

Yeah it was something like $300 million to improve Kauffman & Arrowhead. Work is supposed to start pretty soon. KC is allegedly getting an All-Star game in 2011 because of it. The biggest caveat of that bill was a rolling roof, that would roll back and forth between the stadiums for another $300 million. It failed. For $600 million they could have just built a nice dome for both teams to use and not had to worry about the PITA of retrofitting everything.

Last night wasn't as bad as the score indicated. Odalis Perez couldn't get my grandma out in the first two innings but settled down after that. KC never really hit anything, but it was 4-2 in the 9th until 2 stupid errors made it 9-2.

There's still time to win the series. image

Although I'm hoping A-Rod hits a solo HR tonight and another on Thursday when I'll be at the game.

Congratulations to Denny Matthews for being inducted into the hall of fame this weekend. I grew up listening to Royals broadcasts with him and Fred White, and the Royals couldn't have hired a better announcer than Denny. He's been with them since the beginning in 1969.

Swept the Rangers & won 4 straight. Two straight above .500 months. Currently 10 games under and with the way the last couple of months have been, they could conceivably finish the season at .500. Hopefully dumping some of these guys (Dotel, Grienke, Sanders) at the trade deadline doesn't completely kill the momentum.

It's fun to root for a team that can compete.

Buddy Bell anounced his resignation at seasons end. Not sure why he did this in Minnesota and not KC. I don't think he would have been back next year anyways. I don't see him fitting in with Dayton Moore's plan.

Early replacement names being thrown out are Joe Girardi, Frank White & Terry Pendleton.

Nice game winner by Gordon last night into the upper deck.
