4th anniversary giveaway

StorkStork Posts: 5,205 ✭✭✭✭✭
Hey, I just noticed it's been exactly 4 years since I signed up here....a giveaway is in order, but I'm cranky and sleepy and about to sign off. Just post here and I'll figure something out later image. Maybe something with a 4 on it....

Oh and happy tax day to everyone!!! (I know, it's the 17th this year, but hey...it's REALLY the 15th after all...).

Thanks for reminding me. Now I am cranky too! I wrote checks earlier today to the IRS and 2 different states for taxes. image and to think I came here tonight to relax and forget my woes (LOL).

Congrats for 4 fun filled years here on the forums... I hope you enjoy many more as well!

TTT for anyone else. I'll have the usual FOUR-year-old do his usual random picks for FOUR winners of the FOUR year anniversary giveaway (aha, a theme!)

I haven't quite picked out the goodies yet, but I'll have them posted tomorrow and the picks on Sunday.

And thanks for all the positive comments image. I have found this place to be the one site I have kept coming back to...I guess it's the combination of friendly support, interesting topics and the very occasional nature of the flamefests (I swear I saw that GCL sovereign posted ATS recently in the thread on copper spotted gold--I don't know if it was a more grown-up version of him or if somebody was spoofing, but I digress image).

  • Congratulations Cathy.

I'll enter your contest (my first in well over a year), in hopes that the "something with a 4" will be either a Type A aluminum sen from Showa 14, or a Meiji 4 "low dot" gold yen. image

Well, if this giveaway was going to depend on me being reliable and posting pictures, it would never end. I've got so many pictures on my camera card that the idea of downloading them all is horrifying. I will rely on the winners to post any pictures if they are so inclined imageimage.

Drumroll.... the winners by random 4 year-old-boy picks are:

    1. Tonyhar
    2. Old Shep
    3. Aethelred
    4. KoinCollect

Tonyhar will get to choose first, then Old Shep, Aethelred and poor KoinCollect gets the leftover.

Because he refused to enter the giveaway, Ajaan gets a special prize too-- for good luck in year number 5. He will be getting a fabulous Churchill Crown presentation box image.

The prizes are from 4 continents and derive from 4 different boardmembers:

    1. Asia--a nice little Japanese 5 sen I bought in Julian's store in Silver Spring MD a couple years back. It's a Meiji 8/1875 and if I thought I could get the JNDA catalog value for it, it'd be on ebay instead of here.

    2. Africa--a 1948 5 shilling residing in an ANACS MS-65 slab from the world famous Ajaan collection.

    3. Europe-- a French 1856 10 centimes, with a LordM pedigree

    4. North America--I can't remember who I bought it from, but it came from someone who was/is here. It's a 1939 silver medal from Canada commemerating the visit of the Royal couple. It's got some cool (to me) toning thats got some nice blues on the rims and going to russet across the fields. The Obverse has the conjoined busts of the King/Queen and the reverse has the outlines of Canadian borders. Unfortunately it has been harshly cleaned, and has some rim bumps, but is neat anyway.

So, if Tonyhar could post his pick and PM his address I can get the first prize out image.

  • Congratulations to the winners - 4 excellent prizes to choose from.

And a big Thank You! to Stork for the chance! image
