OT: Happy Opening Day!!!!

Hey Everyone. In about 30 minutes the 2007 Major League Baseball season will start. Just want to wish everyone a Happy Opening Day and a prosperous 2007 season. For baseball fanatics like myself, today is a holiday. Now if only the pain I'm in from helping a friend move yesterday and golfing this morning would go away, I'd be even happier. (I'm REALLY sore right now as my friend lived on the third floor and had a LOT of heavy stuff. Also, I got a NASTY sunburn out on the golf course and had a HORRIBLE round).

Well, as a Reds fan, I could be in for a long year.

But we're all in first on opening day.

Funny you should mention opening day being a holiday. My father was/is a school teacher, and missing school was a major no-no for me. I had to be running a major fever to miss a day, and none of the tricks Ferris Bueller had would do the trick.

But I loved baseball, and he knew it. And while I was growing up, the Reds used to always play the first game of the year. And that day was the only day dad would fib for me and let me miss school. Felt like a holiday then, and still does today.

Yankees start their season at home at 1:00 tomorrow. Thankfully, my last meeting of the day is at 10:00 A.M. and my boss is out in the UK. I have a TON of vacation time I need to use up, so I'll be working a half-day tomorrow and catching opening day on the TV. It will also give me a chance to rest and heal my wounds. (I helped a friend move on Saturday and my legs and arms, but mostly my legs, are VERY sore from that. Then today I went out and played a round of golf and now look like a lobster as I got pretty sunburned today. Who'd of thunk that on April 1st in New England you could get a lobster-pink sunburn?).

I have to root for the Mets every five days. Glad that's over for a while...

We rec'd the Mets-Cards game in the UK from 00:15-4:00am this morning on the North American Sports Network. (NASN) I had to work today, but my 16yo son is off for spring break the next two weeks, and he stayed up to watch. I heard him stumple up to bed very early.

We will get 260 live games this year, including the ASG, Playoffs, and the WS. (Thankfully we have a DVR to record the late US, early UK games.) NASN has also added BBTonight, TWIB, Around the Horn, and PTI for this years baseball season. Should be a much better year for baseball coverage in the UK!

We gave up our Braves season tickets when we moved over last August, but since I pre-purchased a post-season package , I have a ton of credit with the Braves front office. We are looking forward to using some for tiks this summer when we holiday in Atlanta!
