BUYING COMMONS....yes BUYING!!!

ok guys (or more so the wives)....looking to clean up that closet/attic/basement of all those boxes of commons laying around?

I've been working with another dealer that is buying..yes actual cash...5000 count boxes at $10 each. He's looking for the 4 major sports..they must fill the box..be all the same sport per box..and that's about it!

Ideally, I'd like to find people in a few geographic locations to store and hold the orders until the reach 500K or 1 million. Lesser numbers if they are close to one of us!!

So say you have roughly 50-100K kicking around...and you know friend with another lump sum...and maybe a couple more guys who have friends too....or store owners looking to just turn dead stock into cash!! Here's an easy chance...

Now...before this turns into a 80'sjunkie flame thread...STOP before you even think about typing it!! This isn't a buy and look to reseal packs scam...it's 100% legit.

This guy isn't looking for people to send him all their 60's..70's and 80's stuff...or the new high end modern shiney crap-ola...

He's looking for BULK JUNK!!

The stuff NO ONE else will touch...and that many of us have even thrown away...burned..or just given away for free to make room!!

I just sold him 150K card....88 Score..89 Score..87-93 Topps..Hoops..Pro Set everything...90-96 Score FB...89-93 Topps Hockey....

SLAG.....so YES...it's not to reseal precious 1990 Pro set FB packs...don't even go there.

Anyways...if anyone has a big lot they'd like to move..or knows someone who might...let me know.

It's like getting something for nothing....and it won't last forever...jump on while you can.

any questions..email me..or IM

This is what I currently have.

    Approx numbers.

8 Priority boxes filled with mostly baseball. 24,000
35 800 count boxes with all sports and a few non sports. 28,000
2 boxes with mostly baseball. 4,000
1 large box baseball and hockey. 5,000

That's roughly 61,000 cards at this time.

I say at this time as I am currently trying to go thru what I have (Nearly 300,000 cards) and making partial sets for my collection and all doubles are being boxed up. I am working on football now and have hockey, basketball and a few more baseball boxes to go thru next. Probably will be able to add another 20,000 or more (Probably a lot more) to what I have quoted above.

here's the problem with the pricing..once any major rookies are pulled out of cards....they are junk! Plain and simple...atleast around here.

Case in point...I can get complete sets of ALMOST everything in your list for less than what you're asking for your dupes.

The early years are ok...but anything from 85 through 2002 can be had for next to nothing.

I had hundreds of complete sets from 1984 through 2004. The better Topps sets that book at $60 and $80...we move around here at $20-$25. I sell 87 Topps sets at $5 each...88's and 89's for $3 each. The rest of the 90's stuff same thing.

I just wholesaled 150K cards from my last purchase for $500..and they had stars in them.

I literally took 86 through 93 Topps sets..all Score and Donruss sets...pulled Red Sox and Yankees Team sets and any big rookies...and the rest went into the lot. There were hundreds of stars left in there...Griffey, Thomas, Ripken, Bonds, Schmidt, Ryan, McGwire, Henderson, rose..etc..etc..

It may be different in your area....but here it's a tough market for anything that's modern that doesn't have high book prices...or shiney refractor qualities.

I totally understand as I wouldn't purchase this lot either. My only problem is that it takes time and money to send lots this big. If the money isn't there then I would rather trash them. I've already thrown away 20,000 cards from 1992 to 1996 and this lot is just a small sample of what I have in storage. The market here is crap for modern stuff. Anyone up for a camp fire?

I guess that's the real problem as the money really isn't there. A few years ago a seller on eBay (From Pennsylvania) was in a situation of having a large amount of common/minor star cards and he came on the eBay discussion board there and asked what to do with them since he knew there was no market for them and hated to trash them so I offered to take them. I was half serious and half joking as many came on there saying they had the unsellable stuff and didn't know what to with them and I always said that I would take them. One guy lived in Chicago and said if I lived close to bring a truck and back up to his garage and take them all but I live in Maine so that deal didn't happen but the one in Pennsylvania emailed me and said that if I was serious that I could have them for the cost of shipping. So we worked it out and I ended up with a little over 150,000 cards from 1978 to 2002 for the cost of shipping. There were decent cards in the lot having book values up to $12 and many stars in the 50 cent to $5 range. He was happy to get rid of them and I was happy to help him out.

But I understand the if no one wants to pay for them I will trash them thinking as I have thought that way as well at one time but now I figure if someone else can use little pieces of cardboard with pictures on them that I have no use for and I no longer need the double, triples etc etc and they are at the very least willing to pay the shipping or pick them up well it's better to pass them on and help out someone else that might get some enjoyment out of them.

You could always donate them to goodwill, salvation army or ??? and use them as a tax write off or just not to throw them away. i used to have a couple of young boys who lived next door and so i'd give them boxes of the cards i did'nt want. Phil

    Good Idea!

Part of my 1st thread also says that if you have any friends or collectors in your area...or a store owner looking to move stuff....that IF you can pool your cards together and come up with atleast 500,000 or more...I would be willing to come in and get them.

It's just figuring out the logisitcs. So you would get all the $$ and not have to worry about packing..shipping or any other expenses.

It's a better solution than just throwing cards away.
But I do agree...if nothing else...don't trash them...PLEASE PLEASE find a charity that will take them and give them to the kids!!

    sorry, 5stat,

i actually have a buyer who pays a little more and they pay the freight.

on another note, do you have access to sorted commons by teams?

i'm looking for bulk bears, colts, cardinals, texans, titans, etc and the list goes on...

    email me jjd1979@hotmail.com

Alot of people have asked about the freight...so here's a breif run down:

I live in MA and will pick up any orders in New England personally. Any other orders, IF in a reasonable driving distance..I will also drive in and pick up.

Other parts of the country, I would fly in and deal with the load myself.

So YES....I take care of all freight....you don't have to touch a thing. I'll get the truck/van..a storage facility on your area if needed and lump the cards myself.

Some people may pay more for the cards, I understand that. But it's you dealing with the mess on your end.

The difference is..I might pay a little less...but traveling costs make up the difference...AND I do all the work!!

So when I say you get $10 per 5K box....that's clear....no work involved...no worrying about packing and shipping.

Hope this clears a few things for everyone.

    5Stat,

Thanks, but I don't mind doing the extra work if I'm going to make an extra 5-$8 a box over quantity.

Do you have access to team lots? like 5000 cardinals, bears, ect.

    thanks.
