When sending coins to PCGS

When sending registered mail , to insure the package do you tell them that you have coins inside
or would gold and silver work better ?? Also i'am sending my eight free subs , how do you keep them from bumping into each other as they want all 8 together ??

May sound dumb , but this is my first sub .

Thanks , Dan

send registered, don't tell them what's inside. All they need to know if it is liquid, fragile, perishable, or potentially dangerous.

Use flips, put in a cardboard mailer (the corrugated stuff shaped like an envelope that is sticky on the inside)if you'd like, pack securely so they don't have a chance to move.
  • In addition to Barndog's suggestions, I tape all my flips together and then wrap the whole bunch in bubblewrap. I usually put them in a separate padded manila envelope (completely addressed) inside a larger manila envelope. Can't be too careful IMO.
Spare your best friend's life!! Adopt an adult dog at your local "kill" animal shelter. You will be changed.
  • To prevent the coins bumping, use a Safe-T-Mailer.

Last time I told the Post office it was coins, it never got there.

Where do you buy this self-adhesive, cardboard packing material? I've seen plenty of these mailers with the coins I have purchased lately, and they seem like the hot setup. They don't leave any residue on slabs, either.

That is a Safe-T-mailer. Just do a search under that on eBay. Or you can buy them in large quntities from Safe-t-mailer direct.

I always put coins in Saf-flips, rubberband them together, put all in bubble envelope, roll envelope, then put in a Priority Mail box, then fill to capacity with foam peanuts Making sure nothing can move and shake it so that the peanuts can settle, then fill again. I've never had a problem.

It took me a while to comprehend it all , but if you don't have one of these handy "HOW TO's" from PCGS, get one. This page is full of every thing a guy needs to know when submitting coins.

    Seriously, it's good stuff !

I have sent a dozen or so submissions to PCGS in the blue PCGS boxes.

The saflip mylar flips fit perfectly in the slots for the slabs.

Never had a problem with those. Try it!

Also I cut the tape on the PCGS cardboard box the blue slab box comes in, turn it inside out, retape it for registered mail, and voila!!

Safe, no cost packaging....save for the flips.
And I ain't lying this time.

Label the package "Job applications for private business"

No one at the post office will touch it. Maybe it would never move from the counter. They'd be drawing straws to see who had to touch such an evil package. Or possibly it would be delivered in less than an hour with the postal employees all trying to get it out of the system.
