There has been some confusion about how to submit these error coins.

They need to be submitted through the Mint Error service. The turnaround time for these coins has been approximately 15 business days.

Please call Customer Service if you have any questions or concerns.

You need to tell the CSR's that because they've been telling submitters otherwise.

Why Mint Error service when they are NOT labeled as such?

Plus, PCGS has assigned a specific coin number.

Customer Service was initially provided with the wrong information. I apologize for this mistake.

Coins submitted now will be labeled as errors (with the "E" in front of the coin number).

I don't like the sound of that very well. I just spoke with someone in customer service on Friday and was told they did not have to be submitted under the error service level and was even given a PCGS number for that specific coin. I just sent 10 in with an order under Modern service level. Sounds like someone has changed their mind after offering goods at a certain rate. It should be honored for those currently at PCGS or in transit when the new rules were created.
Witty sig line currently under construction. Thank you for your patience.

I'm sure it will be. PCGS is pretty good about that stuff.

I sincerely hope this decision is reconsidered. If you search completed auctions on ebay for "washington dollar pcgs" you can find one graded by PCGS with the PCGS number given out to me on the phone for normal submission levels. Forcing them under error level at this point just rings of greed for the additional $26 per coin.

    Russ,
You're 100% correct. I have been informed since it is "in transit" the Modern service level price will be honored. However any sent in now will have to be at the Error submission level. Thanks to PCGS for honoring my shipment.

This was the response I got from Ron Guth on March 8th in the Q&A Forum:

<<Will PCGS grade and certify the plain edge Washington Dollars with Error Designation?

<< I would like to know how PCGS will handle this. And are you taking submissions for this error? >>

Yes, PCGS will grade and certify these error coins through the Mint Error service. If you are lucky enough to find 100 or more, contact our Bulk Department for special pricing.

The owner should make out ok, if he sells them ASAP....The price of these "babies" will tumble. It may be an error, but it sure ain't a rarity.

OK....I've heard estimates from 200K-300K...but let's stretch it even further........Let's just say there was about DOUBLE that...or 500,000 of these smoothies out there....
Compared to how many were minted, (aprox 340 million)...that would make
them equal to the 72-P Type 2 Ike Dollar (estimated 100K out of a total 75 million minted) in amount made~vs~total amount minted.

The 72-P Type 2 is the most sought-after Ike out there and brings GOOD money!

I think the price might fall at first....with a flood of them on the market ...but, then they will begin to climb..(similar to the 20th Anniv. SAE sets).

Most smoothies I've seen are pretty beat up.....63ish-64ish...The 65's will bring good money and the 66's should bring GREAT money!
    I haven't heard of a 67 yet...but I'm sure those will bring out the MOON $$$!image

The Plain Edge GW is almost guaranteed to be a recognized variety and it took the 72-P Type 2 Ike decades to get recognized....I think the future looks bright for these.

    JMHO.
