Coins used to sell for less in the off season. Problem is, there does not appear to be this situation any longer. I think with all the internet auction activity, anytime in the year is about the same. Summers might be slightly slower still, but not much.

Capped Bust Half Dollar prices are so high, I may forget about buying anymore. There must be a top somewhere, and it could be right now. Certainly, I want my collection to be worth more, but I am still wanting to buy, so today's prices do not make me happy.
I collect Capped Bust series by variety in PCGS AU/MS grades.

I was wondering why I had to ask this question and then I remembered I work 100 hrs a week for 4 months straight in the summer. Coins are definitely not even a consideration after I get started.

There used to be a summer lull but no more.....it is non-stop.....just look at the combined show and auction schedule and you get the picture.....not to mention the 7x24 action here on the Internet.....

Talked to a dealer at the Baltimore show yesterday who told me about listing a coin on the Internet and having it sold less than one minute later!

It used to be that the Summer time was kinda slow and there were some bargains to be had then. Not so much the last year or two.

I noticed that the summers seem to be slow when I'm buying and I've seen less material for sale when I search dealers sites around that time.

I have found a portion of the year that seems off season and I have been able to get smoe great deals than; if I gave out the information it wouldn't be off season any more cause everyone would start looking than! image

Look for auctions ending around holidays, most people are to busy with thier families to be looking at coins, it's a good time to buy a bad time to sell.

They can be purchased at a great price in a recessed market ... just like houses.
