Trying to upgrade each gradually to 9s without bidding crazy. Have made huge prgress on 65s with mid-pop commons going for $60-85 on average but having almost no success on the 67s where I am getting outbid by lots of different people.
Thought the 1967 collectors might be interested in this advertisement I found in a 1967 baseball magazine:
Just imagine, an entire set for $12.95, plus a free 1961 Golden Press set! Imagine if you had bought, say, 100 sets, and just held on to them until now.
I did that once in the 70s (order a set through the mail). The cards were pretty much OC and dinged from being shipped in a 660-count box. But under the old definition, those qualified as mint.
I talked to the former owner of Wholesale Cards, Bruce Yeko, on the phone a few months ago. He was an accountant by trade who had the card business on the side. He was buying vending cases from Topps in the early 60's, yow! He lives in CT now, but all the good stuff is gone.
Was anyone ever identified here that is trading PSA 8 commons for PSA 8 commons? Fuzz
Wanted: Bell Brands FB and BB, Chiefs regionals especially those ugly milk cards, Coke caps, Topps and Fleer inserts and test issues from the 60's. 1981 FB Rack pack w/ Jan Stenerud on top.
Can someone fimilar with the 1967 Topps explain to me why #89 Felix Millan is included in the "Braves Key Card" registry?
I searched him out on the web and through everything I have read, he was a solid player for several years with the Brave's before having an off year and being traded to the Mets. So why is he included with the great Braves? Is it something to do with the card more than the player?
If I'm missing something obvious, forgive my ignorance.
Your assessment of Felix is about right: solid if not spectacular. There's nothing especially remarkable about that card, itself. I just picked up a PSA 8 for @$15.00
I'm not really sure who assembled that set. It's missing some people I would consider important Braves.
SPAM ALERT: Sorry in advance, but I just listed a PSA 9 1967 Topps 572 Don Demeter on eBay, and I thought that one of you '67 Topps zealots might be interested.
I just bought a White Sox team card, and I noticed that all the team stats listed are from the Indians. Does anyone know if the error was ever corrected?
This is the best set off the 60's in my mind anyway. I started the set on the Registry back in 04 and I've had a great time with the chase. I am always looking to upgrade my set.
You know, I would like to do this set myself at some point (once I get all my 1970s sets done of course). Do you think PSA 6 key cards (all HOFers/checklists) would be a good goal? Or do you think that's too low a grade? I imagine anything higher would be out of my price range.
Hello all, doesnt look like much action on this board, but I figured I would give it a shot. I'm looking at starting to collect this set in all 8. If you have a good chunk of 8's to get me started that you are looking to sell or even your entire set, let me know. Thanks - Jerry
Collecting '52-'54 in PSA 7, '55 to '67 in PSA 8, '68 to '79 in PSA 9. See me on the set registry as GI's XXXX Set. Thx.
Here are a couple of nice cellos from the Mantle Series that I have:

Hello all, I'm looking to complete this set as well. Looking for EX-MT or better raw cards and the stars in PSA 7. Email bxxwhite@bop.gov or leadoff2@comcast.net. BTW, I have 368 cards already. Let me know what you have. Thanks
agreed, I was thinking the same thing ther have been more psa 7, 8's of the tough highs than ever before. you may be able to pick up some good bargains.
In the USA all men are created equal but some are more equal than others....
the '67 set has become much more popular over the recent months, so don't expect to find too many bargains, there are too many lovers of the set in the game right now.....as a collector of cards from the set though, i'm seeing more quality material being made available than ever before, so i'm assuming that many folks who had been hanging on until the right time to sell feel that time is now.
My favorite 60s set. I have it done and with the following variations/oddities:
9 Hansen...with an all green back or regular back 26 Priddy...traded or not 40 Reichardt...all green back or regular back 45 Maris as Yankee proof or regular card as Cardinal 58..Schaal with green bat at top CL 1... different copyright placements on back 86 McCormick..traded or not 95 Siebert...regular and with brown grass between legs or blue streak by cap (3) CL 2... # 170 line or period after D 117 Brandon...with or without large smudges over shoulders 124 Stewart..with or without white blob at ear 128 Spezio..with name partially missing or not 137 Twins Rookies...title in gray or black 149 Moeller...with or without white blob at cap CL 3.... 214 is Mays or Kelly 195 Jackson...name in gray or black 223 Ryan...period over i in autograph or not 252 Bolin...white blob between Bs in name or not 291 Hannan..with errant black dot near left border or not 298 Davis...with or without white blob at ear 374 Queen...stat line border missing or not 402 Phils Rookies..missing line on back or not 417 Bruce...name wrong on back or not 427 Gomez...missing line on back or not CL 6... << <i>Do we still have members working on this set other than me? >>
Not actively. I still plan on finishing my Braves team set and maybe, at some point, taking this back up again. It's a great set and I love the cards I have but (like my '72 football set), my priorities aren't with it right now.

I assume you have very few 9s to obtain and are shooting at just the 10s but what pricing trends have you seen for 67s in low-pop 9s and psa 10s.
By the way, tremendous job over the past year. You are building a set that will soon be considered the best of the 60s Topps sets if you stay with it.

My how times have changed.
$12.95 was probably considered overpriced at the time.

Are you refering to the old definition of "mint" or the new?

Incidentally, there are lots of other print errors listed in this guide that PSA does not yet recognize.
1993 was the last year I bought a Beckett guide book!

What in the world is the difference between the "White Stripe" and "No White Stripe" on card #252?
(Does it have to do with a band not showing up for a concert?)
Anyone have a pic/scan?
Thanks!
Nick
