2006-W Gold 20th Anniversary Set

There is a set on ebay that is First Strike PR70, PR70DCAM, MS70 ........consecutively numbered for BIN $ 49,500

I had a chance at one time to buy one of these sets for $ 12,500

I did purchase a First Strike PR70, PR69DCAM, MS70........So I am happy with what I have.......I guess ?

Wish I would have gone for the BIG ONE when I had the chance.......!!!

Don't make the mistake of assuming an un-sold e-bay lot reflects market prices. Beware of shills too.

The sets are available even below (or right around) the $18,500 figure the last set on ebay sold for. But, tomorrow is another day and the sets could obviously move way up or way down.

  • I agree....they may be dreaming. But I do think that $ 20,000 in a few months might be the norm for a set like that.
  • i believe there was a post here in the last day or two about a 70/70/70 set went for around 18,000 on the bay. even that seems high right now.

  • I too am trying to find a value for the 20th FS 70DCAM gold. I need one to add to me other two gold FS 70's but they just are not out there?

What are the raw 3-piece sets bringing these days?

What is the First Strike premium today if any. If you had a set still in the US Mint box unopened with a good date on the label would you submit for First Strike designation. And if so, how much does it cost for the designation?

Are the grading services still giving out the First Strike designation for these coins? What's the latest date stamp on the unopened box that will get the FS designation?

    3-Coin AGE ungraded set
  • I dont remember......but I think that it was Oct - 2006 on the Gold and Nov -2006 on the Silver.........and like I said, I am only guessing about the dates.

The First Strike premium on the PR70DCAM is thousands of dollars over the non First Strike. Last time I looked there were only 171 First Strike PR70DCAM

Why should consecutively-numbered holders make any difference in the value? Is that the case?

The PCGS FS Gold Anniversary 70 set will be in the $20,000 range is my guess in the next year. Like the 1995 W they will only increase in value.

So, in this case - it's the Holder(s) and not the coins? I am just trying to understand why consecutive 70s are worth that much more than nonconsecutive 70s. Are some collectors really that hung up on consecutive numbers and (imaginary) "first strike" designations?

jmski52 - FYI - while sequentially numbered sets may worth more money IMHO (read on) - I set the differential at $100 between sequentially numbered and non-sequentially numbered. Considering we are dealing with an $18,000+ set at the moment, I fail to see why $100 in that context is any big deal? It just adds a nice touch to the set at about 1/2 of 1% additional cost. Thanks Wondercoin, I don't think that $100 differential is an issue. I was laboring under the wrong impression that the sequential sets were priced much higher. Thanks again - you are a good resource for those of us who are in this particular market.
