Microchip in our head links to bank accounts; crediting and debiting our accounts. No coins or currency needed anymore so what happens to collecting?

Something may come to pass like this in the future, but it will be even a longer time to get the entire world, including the less developed to utilize this.
Until that time, money, as we know it now, will still be necessary.
I firmly believe in numismatics as the world's greatest hobby, but recognize that this is a luxury and without collectors, we can all spend/melt our collections/inventories.

We pretty much already have quit using them. Coins don't have enough purchasing power beyond vending machine junk food or the car wash. Mostly they are just tossed in a piggy bank and left there for a long time - and then deposited at a bank.

Don't be too sure. I already use my credit card for every purchase at every fast food restaurant I go to. Oftentimes many days go by without me using any cash at all, no less coinage.

I run a cash only biz, no plastic. I still accept local checks. For a small business the fees are so high for debit and credit cards. The locals don't seem to mind.

If my credit card is over drawn they simply tear the card up. If the chip in my head is overdrawn, what will they do...chop off my head?
I think I am against this idea.
