Query on 1916 Buffalo Nickel (non collector)

Hi Everyone image Thank you for such an awesome forum, I have enjoyed reading many posts
I would like to Query a 1916 Buffalo Nickel that I have, I am not a collector of coins so my knowledge is very limited

From what I have read there seems to be 3 possibly 4 different 1916 types, the D and S type, and also the DD and non marked type

Could someone please tell me a little more about the type I have. From what info I have read this is a non D + S type

Thanks for your time

Marisa (New Zealand)

Marisa, it's a P-mint coin, meaning Philadelphia mint and no mint mark.
It looks to be in AU condition. Good luck!

    1916 Nickel - - worth US$10 to $20 or so

1862 Half Dollar - - look on the back to see if there is a letter S below the eagle above HALF DOL. If so, the coin is an 1862-S and is worth $15 and up, depending on condition. If not, the coin is an 1862 Philadelphia mint and is worth $30 and up, depending on condition. If this one is for sale, I might be interested, depending on condition.

    1943 One Diime - - worth about $1

    1919, 1936, 1940, 1946 One Cent - - each worth 2c to 5c unless uncirculated (new) condition.

One further note - - please do NOT clean your coins, as collectors like them to look old. Cleaning them will reduce their value.

Edit to add: image to the boards, Marisa! Enjoy!

I have pulled out the magnifying glass and can tell you the 1862 Half Dollar is in fact a 1862-S

Gee I never realized there was so much interesting info on coins, and it sure take some digging around on the internet to find some coin info. I have some 20 coins to research on and also a couple of other ones with necklace type mounts.

    Good Fun

Again many thanks to all replies.. image

The 1862-S is a desirable coin as it was struck during the Civil War, and there is more interest in coins from those years. Too bad it isn't an 1862 from Philadelphia, there are tons of people looking for that one.
