Opinion on this Seated Dollar

What do you think of the grade and condition of the coin?

  • I'd say F-15/25 (Liberty looks very weak) Also obverse looks cleaned, but it might just be the picture. Nice reverse. I like it overall.

  • Is that a rim nick on the reverse at 9:00?????

I'd grade it F-15 w/ possible cleaning. I don't really like the coin, esp. for one of the more common (if there is such a thing image) seated dollars.

Yes, it does look like a rim ding at about 9:00 on the reverse. It looks like a decent coin, like was said somewhere between 15-25 for a grade. Possibly cleaned at one point.

Actually, I was giving it a split grade. (15 Obverse and 25 Reverse) Didn't want to guess at a net--overall I don't think it would merit a 20.

VF20, with an old light cleaning and two rim nicks.

    I agree with speety
    about passing on it.

I think F15 is the upper limit on this one. The 1859-o is one of the most available no motto Seated Dollars. Just a friendly suggestion, spend another $200 and look for one that you will really like.

Maybe as low as VG10 details, cleaned, rim nick. I wouldn't touch it.
    All glory is fleeting.
  • I see the two rimnicks you're all talking about but what is leading you to suspect a cleaning?

The appearance of the surfaces - they are not a natural appearance for a circulated coin, but in fact, are indicative of a cleaned one.
