If so, you have something in common with my late father.

    so wild guess:
    Venturing leadership award
  • mrpaseomrpaseo Posts: 4,753 ✭✭✭
    I'm going to guess:

    William T. Hornaday Gold Certificate

"This award is by nomination only and is granted to an individual, corporation, or organization not affiliated with Scouting. The nominee should have made an outstanding contribution to youth conservation education and demonstrated commitment to the education of youth on a national or international level, reflecting the natural resource conservation and environmental awareness mission of the Boy Scouts of America. Candidates may be nominated by any recognized conservation/environmental organization. Up to six awards may be granted annually. Each nomination must be approved by the Hornaday Awards Committee and by the Conservation Committee of the National Council, Boy Scouts of America, in consultation with the Chief Scout Executive."
  • mrpaseomrpaseo Posts: 4,753 ✭✭✭
I would like to change my guess to:

    William T. Hornaday Gold Medal

The gold medal is by nomination only and is awarded to an adult Scouter. It recognizes unusual and distinguished service in natural resource conservation and environmental improvement at the regional, national, or international level. Nominations must be approved by the Hornaday Awards Committee and by the Conservation Committee of the National Council, Boy Scouts of America. Any recognized conservation/environmental organization may submit a nomination. The award includes the gold medal, a certificate, and an embroidered square knot.

I found out you have been with the Scouts for over 25 years.

    Can I do that?

Alright, one more change... I would now like to change my guess to:

Venturing Leadership Award, not only because everyone else is guessing this, not only because someone was gracious enough to give me a hint, but because I actually did some research and broadened my horizon with a little research image

Hopefully you'll allow yet another change of mind (I should make a good politician someday)... and this is.... my final answer

If not, heck this has been fun, congratulations on your award.

  • I know of only one man that has accomplished this. I was in the BSA program for 10 years and now that my son has gone to college I am no longer active. This is my guess even if it isn't right. Congratulations on both the 1K and whatever scouting award you attained.

I guess this is the place for cub scout storiesimage One of my best memories was the pinewood derby.
Dad and Uncle Gene were at the house making homebrew. My uncle Gene was real crafty and decided
to help me whittle out the pinewood car. As the homebrew started working on him, the car kept getting more complex.
With borderline illeagle modifications, including a NAIL protruding from the front for aerodynamics.
They did allow the car come raceday, and it made it to the finals.
A lot of fun building it though. Scouts are a real good organization. Congrats.
