1898 PCGS MS65RD that sold for 517.50 in the October 30th Dallas Heritage Online sale.

1898 PCGS MS66RD that sold for 1955.00 in the January 2nd Heritage FUN sale.

I was going to say the bid difference was in the image until I saw the winning bid came from the floor. So, with that in mind, I know it was the plastic that sold the coin...still the same specimen, but to me it just squeaked into that 66 plastic. After the juice, the consigner was up a full grand and probably scouring the bourse for other choice 65's to coffin in 66 plastic.

With that spot near the E in America, coupled with the small spots on the reverse, I think this coin barely made it into a 5 holder in the first place. Someone sure likes expensive plastic!

Thats called Registry plastic.

It really must have great color and luster with the spot on the obverse and all those little spots on the reverse. I would call it a just made it MS-65.

I need to look at my MS-65s and see if they're canidates for upgrade.

The HUGE birthmark under the E of AMERICA keeps this coin at 65RD, at best.

I'm amazed this coin made 66RD.

66RD IHs don't have spots this large !!!!
