Thanks to several warnings I've read on these boards, I have sold all my coins long ago and missed both of the last 9 "market crashes" image

Do you spend more money on coins as the result of this forum? not really.

Do you collect different coins than you otherwise might have been collectiing? Yes.

Are you collecting more intelligently as the result of the forum? Surely.

Do you spend more time on the hobby, or does the time you spend here simply displace other numismatic activities? yes

Do the things that you learn here increase or decrease the likelihood that you will remain a collector? If so, how? I think so. The constant input of new information lessens the likelihood of my getting bored or stagnant

Any other thoughts? This place is one of the best procrastination magnets on the entire worldwide web; my presence here at any hour is a sure sign that there is something else pressing that I ought to be doing.

I probably spend more as a result of this and other coin forums since I'm collecting different [re: better] coins. I find I'm collecting more intellegently since I'm collecting better coins. I don't feel I'm spending more time on the hobby...in fact I'm probably spending less time on it, but I'm working smarter...not necessarily harder to achieve a decent collection. Leo

  • im fairly new to the whole world of coin collecting and didnt know anything at all about it until i joined these boards. The wealth of knowledge and the kind and generous folks on here really make you want to collect coins. Every aspect of coinage (and bullion for that matter) is covered here. If you have a question about a certain type of coin, at least 3 people know the series and can give you great info and insight about it. Ive seen SOO MANY "guess the grade" threads that im actually starting to understand the distinguishing characteristics that make or break a coin...thanks to this site i now look through every piece of change in my pocket every night as well as my fiance's change....its an addiction but as long as you somewhat control it then its alot of fun. Thanks to everyone on these boards for ALL of your help..you guys and gals make numismatics fun and educational.

If I have a hunch about a coin or think something is different, I come on here and see if I'm not the only one. It's good to know there so many people paying attention to so many aspects of collection including all the new releases.
