If you are the snotty, elite, purist numismatist, then keep going. AT vs NT who cares? Just because the toning is caused by the silver being exposed to a sulfer based environment instead of a hundred years of age doesn't make it any less pretty.

Ah, the logic of a new coin doctor! image

    Another good laugh today! Cool!

He must be a seller that reads the boards here to put in that comment about snotty and AT vs NT image

At least he doesn't hide the fact it is AT though....give him a tad of credit for that.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

  • Hey, he's an honest coin doctorimage Quote from the eBay descriptioin. "Just because the toning is caused by the silver being exposed to a sulfer based environment instead of a hundred years of age doesn't make it any less pretty. It's kind of like a rusting of the silver. Oxidation I think it would be called. The colors are a permanent part of the coin and will not "rub off". It could be "dipped" off in an acid solution I suppose........but why would you? Buyer pays $5.00 shipping"

imageimageimage Looks like a good deal to me.

I never thought that growing old would happen so fast.

  • If I knew how to make colors like that... I wouldn't. GeeZ! I guess I am the "snotty, elite, purist numismatist" because I don't like it.

I have been a collector for over mumbly-five years. I learn something new every day.
  • The seller has a point, and at least he's upfront. You can't fault him for "destroying" a rare coin, either. At least he's sticking to the new stuff. It would make a cool jewelry piece or pendant, don't you think?
