I give this series 5 years and then the prices will skyrocket. Not sure Martha will go up in time to answer your question but my answer is yes either way because it is gold.

Then, do it. I will sponsor you.
My personal experience is that when something works, the follow-on may work a little but not as well, and the subsequent follow-ons do not work at all.
I have a problem paying multiples for a bullion issue. A little premium is fine, but an excessively large one is not, even if the "mintages" are low. I am not a collector of these types of coins, so maybe someone with more experience can provide a more sound basis and analysis.

Well, I believe member ericj96 has done about as fine an analysis as can be done in that area, so if his musings leave you unconvinced, IMO you'll never be.
I don't remain fully convinced, either, mostly because these "low mintage" coins will have a nearly 100% survival rate for decades in pristine condition. But I could be wrong, and he has made a few points I think are worth considering and are hard to completely dismiss even for someone who's mostly a classic bigot like me.
If it's any consolation, Martha and Abigail were both dogs. Dolley Madison was hot--when she comes out I'm going to buy a load of them. Good luck with the series

Most will survive but the issue is supply and demand. Will there be more collectors than coins available. If the mintage is small and someone down the road decides to collect this series then he/she will have to pay a premium to fill that spot.
Thats the beauty of a series like this because it gets panned at the beginning and then all of a sudden everyone has to collect it. Look how long it took for the platinum eagles to catch on. There is finally a larger collector/investor base than coins available.
This happened with the 1999 and 2000 proof sets. The 1999 did well so a lot of people loaded up on the 2000's. The latter trade for about issue price these many years later, the former is still a big winner.
I might be tempted to buy a few of these gold coins if the economy goes into the dumpster and I can afford to buy. Unemployment rate at 8% or more would be a good time, though if that happens a lot of classic coins will go begging as well and may seem like a better deal.
<< <i>If Martha Washingtons start selling for multiples on eBay, will you buy Abigail Adams? >>
The way I understand it, ALL the First Ladies will be released at the same time. Both Unc. and Proof, 8 - 1/2 oz coins - 4 oz's, costing atleast $2800.
Plus, we don't know mintage. How long will they be on sale? Until December??
These are not like the $1 coins that will be offered until the next Prez is up.
Thus, it will be hard to determine which coin(s) will be winners.
No interest in any of them. If I wanted gold bullion, I would buy eagles. At least they have a classic design (although buying real Saints would be better)

Two quotes from the Mint. I think all First Ladies will all be release at the same time:
"Prices for the First Spouse Coins, which will be produced in proof and uncirculated versions, will be determined closer to the sale date in May 2007, around Mothers Day. " No mention of each coin, it says 'coins'.
"collectible First Spouse Coins that will coincide with the annual release of the Presidential $1 Coins. "
Not to mention, in May the second Prez dollar will be released. This throws off the sequence. Martha would be available during Adams.
I think they will have products ranging from all four in one set, to maybe the Lady and the Prez in a set. It could get pretty crazy.
I could be wrong, but I think I'm reading it correct.

The price is going to be the factor if I take the plunge into buying some of these.....
