Sacagawea Reverse Commemorative?

CW states the possibility Sacs getting a commem-back during the Pres-Dollar run. I guess they needed a reason to drum up support for the millions a Sacs that will sit idle while the Presidents march on. I don't have CW online so I know anything more. I'm just the town-cryer this morning.

What are they going to try and commemorate?

Easiest way to do that is tell the BEP "Don't print any more $1 bills!".
its almost a done deal to approve production for
a Sacagawea Reverse Commem.
Rick, I hope you are right. I would not miss the dollar bill.
The first commemorative reverse honors the Native Americans who claimed to have modeled for the Buffalo nickel – all 73 of them will be shown in one reverse design.
Next, the five worst TV shows of all time will be honored – simultaneously. Followed by – the five most embarrassing product commercials.
Future topics might include:
“The Wit and Wisdom of Warren G. Harding” (edge lettering, only);
“Spaghetti Westerns,”
“American Psychotherapy,”
“Sewage and Septic Suckers’ Association Centennial,”
“People who Got Only 14 Minutes of Fame,” and
“Amish Pie Crust Decorations” (37 unique designs).

How easy is that? If it was easy I would imagine lots of people telling that to the BEP and Congress. Then $1 FRNs would stop.
It might be the easiest way, but it's probably still very difficult.
<< <i>If one is to evaluate the number of $1 coins being minted - between Sacs and Prez dollars - it is not too much of a stretch to realize they are contemplating the discontinuance of the dollar bill. Cheers, RickO >>
I have to agree. I've read that speculation elsewhere. The Mint may stockpile these to a point where they deem enough goldens & prezzies can meet the demand after the discontinuance of the bill.

In 1943 the zinc coated steel cents were widely disliked and evidently often confused with dimes. There were lots of public complaints but nothing changed until one member of the public – a fellow working in Washington DC named Franklin D. Roosevelt – wrote a humorous complaint in September to the Secretary of the Treasury.
“I…tried to use a one-cent piece in a ten-cent slot machine and I was arrested, but let off by the Judge under suspended sentence…”
Secretary Morgenthau called Mint Director Ross and ordered production of the steel cents stopped. He was told the War Production Board would not allocate copper for cents and steel was all Ross had to work with.
Morgenthau’s office called the WPB relaying FDR’s complaint. On October 22 the WPB allocated expended bronze cartridge casings to the Mint for production of cents.
Now, about those paper dollars....

Curious to know how many dollar bills are in circulation at any one time.
Probably a bunch.
How long would it take to mint that many coins and replace the bills?
