For anybody who thinks I was knocking Bunker for repeatedly bumping this thread- it was a joke. Just a little sarcastic wit (or lack thereof). This thread could get bumped 500 times today and it wouldn't bother me. Sorry if I offended anybody. I'm just as excited as anybody to rip my packs.
Sorry for the dealy Arny I have a very good reason. Plus I didnt get the packs out today they will go out tommorrow Heres a pic of the boxes for the break.
Now heres my good excuse for not getting the packs out today got a call at 7am this morning from an old friend whos neighbor had something he wanted to sell> So I drove 5 hours to san diego to secure this deal from a very nice old man. Im stoked I've never owned a 86 fleer basketball box before. The boxes arent in mint condition but not bad considering this guy is not a collector. Even better he thinks he might have more
The packs are all split and boxed up I double boxed them this time so we wont have any accidents. I will print out labels and get them in the mail tommorrow morn guys. There coming priority mail so should have them this weekend hopefully.
Gary, Nice pickup. So do you live in Central CA? SD is about an hour and a half south of me. You should've stopped by my house so I could've purchased a couple packs from you.
congrats on that '86 box. Legit? Would luv to bust those packs. I have only ripped 1 '86'87 wax pack. Got a great Wilkins that I thought was a 10...came back a 9.
inlight of the recent slander and allegations to my credibilty. the packs went out today if you do not want to open ythem i have no problem with that. just refuse the box from th po when it arrives. when i get it back i will give you a paypal refund and rip all the packs myself. I dont want any feeling cheated here.

Wow, Gary, that is a stand-up and class move.
Props from me on that.

So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts
I got my packs today, and I can say with a fair degree of certainty that the Fleer packs and the 78s are most likely reseals. The 79s and 81s look legit.
I'll try and get some scans up today- I've got a few things going on right now. Not sure what I'm going to do with them. If Gary is true to his word and will offer a refund, I'll happily accept. The problem is that I'll be forfeiting evidence, and there's no way to guarantee that he will refund the money when he gets the packs. As some of you now know, he is "going out of business".
i have been thinking that maybe a group of us could get together, And Start a thread on Pack re-sealing;what to look for. We could all share our expertise, or lack of expertise on the subject. Maybe even ask a guest to come in like Steve Hart and give us a few "what to look for's." That way we could all have a point of reference to go back to on the subject.
I received my packs in the mail today and they are all wrapped tight.
EDIT to ADD: Did anyone else receive their packs today? If so could you please post a scan? Thanks!

Like I said, the 78 and 87 are almost definitely reseals in my eyes, and the 88s are probably as well.
The 78s are a complete mess- look at the top left corner of the right pack, the crinkles in the middle of the flap, the rough double folds in the top right of both packs, and you can't tell from the scan, but the roller marks are inconsistent from one side to the other. Look at the 78s compared to the 79s (which I think are legit)- the 79s are smooth and lack the inconsistencies I mentioned. Also, look at the double folds in the top right of the 78s and compare them to the ones in the 81s. Doesn't even look like they were made by the same company.
The 87s and 88s are, for lack of a better word, very bumpy. The 87s moreso than the 88s. Fleer didn't do that great a job in wrapping packs, but nowehere near as bad as the 87s. I've opened a lot of Fleer 86, 87, and 88 packs, and these don't look or feel right to me.
With all those empty pack lots you've purchased, and unless I'm missing something, you haven't listed them with the empty boxes yet, I would imagine that you would have those empty packs and boxes sitting around to snap a few pictures of. Why don't you do just that and clear your name? Seems to be pretty simple to me instead of the same ol' response that you seem to be providing. "You'll see!" isn't all that compelling.
sure gumby fan ill dig them out now. but if someone does the math i won the 87 fleer wrappers march 1st the day the packs were sent out so obviously i havent even recieved those wrappers yet but of coursethat does not matter

You know, they seemed alright. I wouldn't be surprised one way or another though.....but, nothing 'controversial' as far as I saw. But again, I wasn't taking my loupe to 'em either.

Those look pretty good to me - it would be nice to compare with what others are getting.
But, it's probably not just about the "tightness" - since if this guy is what is alleged - he would get pretty good at folding.
In fact, if he's not busy today - I have a TON of laundry to fold!
