Send to PCGS in unopened mint packaging?

Not a first strike issue at all, but a valuable coin(1 oz shiny metal), is there any real advantage of sending it in without looking first....I really would rather look at it. Would opening the box(sealed packaging) affect the potential grade ?, I don't think it would/should but being a newbie at sending in coins ...what do I know ? Of course I would not mess with the capsule or anything like that.

<< <i>I always open the package and look before I send them in. You never know what you get from the mint. If it doesn't look good, why grade it???
Precisely !

I think you need to send them unopened for the 20th Anniv designation where applicable as well.

Labels?....Flippers?....
Don't laugh at me or I will hunt you down and do something.......
Welcome to the boards! "Labels" refers to getting your coin graded with any special insert like "First Strike" or "20th Anniversary" with the idea to collect more money for your coins. The principle of the label itself is to mark a coin as being graded early after its release (in the case of First Strikes) or being produce for a special occasion as in the "20th Anniversary". "Flippers" are people that buy a coin because they think it will be profitable short term. "Flippers" will sell a coin quickly without letting its value mature as they are looking for a quick buck. That's been Wikipedia 101!!!
