That's a weird one. The doubling around the King's titles makes it look like HENRICVS IIIII , King of France and Navarre - but neither Navarre nor France had a "Henry V" that made coins - there was a pretender Henry V that made coins in the 1830's, but this coin is definitely more "mediaeval-looking" than that. A Henry IV ½ franc seems to be the best match to me. Henry (or Henri) IV reigned 1589-1610.
The mintmark is "F" (Angers). Looks like it's undated, though there might be a remnant of a date at the bottom of the reverse. Either way, it's probably pre-1600 - there isn't a mintmark "F" ½ franc listed in the 1600's Krause for this king.

<< <i>I believe it is a demi franc of Charles IIII of France - a billon issue. >>
Thanks, I checked for Henry IV Demi Franc on the internet, and pictures I found match this example.

ipmman,
You'll find that GDJMSP is seldom incorrect.
and by the way welcome to the forum.

Apparently I have been awarded one DPOTD.
There is a partial date, dating this coin in the 1590's. If you look carefully, you can see the "159" portion of the date:
Here is a link to other Henri IV Demi Francs:
Henri IV Coinage
At the bottom of the page, there are four Henri IV Demi Francs, One is dated 1594, another has the Angers "F" mintmark.
Does anyone know if the Angers mintmark makes it of greater or lesser value?
