Coin club medals, how collectible are they?

I have a copper or bronze coin club medal that I obtained as a kid in the 60's or early 70's in Colorado.

I have not looked at it in a long time and recall it commemorated a coin club operating in Colorado and New Mexico, maybe even one of its conventions. It has a western theme to it and is really very attractive.

Are these types of items popular and collectible. I assume it would fall in the category of exunomia.

They are very collectible if you like them -- if you like them, collect them.

I suspect your question is more about the market and liquidity for them, though, and not whether they are collectible. For that question, I'm not sure.

Just ran across this and thought I'd respond since I'm a fan of club medals.

It depends a lot on the specific medal, e.g. on the club and the following. Some clubs have a pretty good following and others less so. It can also depend on the designer, e.g. Carr, Kolb, McNamara, etc. There may be a combination of club and designer for some collectors. For the early 70s, the Robert McNamara, Heraldic Art, medals seem to sell well.

Additionally, NGC is starting to slab club medals. I have a Pacific Coast Numismatic Society medal that is slabbed as a so-called dollar (SC$).

Everything is collectable to someone, I myself (and I think I'm the only one that collects them)
are AOL sign up CD's) that were free at Vons, Thrifty's, Rite Aids over a 5 year period around 2000 to 2005.......I have over 100 Different ones.

Those sign up CD's were all around for a while.... Now they are collectible?? Wow... I think I trashed mine in my last move.....maybe not. Must look into this.... Cheers, RickO

I didn't spend too much time because the game was starting, I have about 3 dozen boxes in the shed that I have to look through..................ahh another choir

And wow, this 1940 New Zealand Century of Progress medal is slabbed by ATS and listed for $525 (not mine). I picked up one of these raw a while ago because I thought the toning was superb. I was just admiring it again over the weekend and will see if I can post some pics It's nice to see ATS slabbing these now.

I love the "Century of Progress" medals which show what live looked like across 100 years.
