1921 Morgan Dollar.... what's a VAM ?

The only thing I can definitely tell from the pictures is that the "T" in "UNITED" on the reverse of the 1921 D looks different on the bottom of the letter. Other than that, I don't know a thing.

If the question is: what vam are these coins? The answer is, I can't tell. Because of the high mintage in 1921, there are hundreds of die combinations, most very subtle. In other words, there's nothing
obvious from the photos to id the VAM. The 1921-P is a D2 reverse type. So, from the given photos, the 1921-D and 1921-S are VAM-1 or normal die for the date.

The T in UNITED just looks like a hit on the coin.

The E in United on the 21D is different at the base, and the lower arrowhead on the bottom coin looks like it may be a strike through.. or, maybe damage. Cheers, RickO

My main idea was a thread for pictures and discussion of the 1921 ... I know there are really hundreds of different VAMs... The new collectors could benefit

Well, here's a tip. Always look for missing letters on 1921-D coins. For example, you could
buy a slabbed PCGS MS63 1921-D coin for around $60 dollars. But if the 's' in 'trust' is
missing, you can sell it for around $1,000. VAM-1A2:

I collect the 1921 & 1921 D Morgan vams, mainly the die breaks. I got quite a few. But missing
Vam 1M (Die breaks S-O in last S in STATES and OF). Also looking for Vam 1E (die break Obverse Star).
A real hard one to get is Vam 1O (Die break A) and Vam 1AT (Die break ONE)
