Thinking of....
Starting to get into getting someof my items graded and getting into coin collecting more than I am. I have rec'd an UNC roll of from each mint for the state quarters. I have also gotten the silver proof, UNC set and the proof set.
Some of my questions are:
1. What do I need to do to set up an account to get coins graded?
2. If I want the coins out of a proof set graded, do I break open the plastic case and then send them in or do I just send the sealed case unopened? What about the UNC set?
3. If I do need to break them open, how would I keep them safe while sending them in?
These are just a few questions and thanks for answering in advance.

An authorized PCGS dealer, and a contributor to the Red Book.
Join the PCGS collectors club at the Platinum level, and you'll get submission privileges, including your first 8 free. All of the details are at PCGS.
Also, you do NOT need to crackout anything from Mint Packaging, just send it in just like that -- it's the safest way.
Have fun, and welcome!

Thanks!!
So, under a US Modern submission it would be $11 per coin PLUS the new $5.00 because-we-can-fee PLUS shipping and insurance both ways.
It starts getting hard to justify for those quarters, when you look on eBay and can find the same coin already graded for less than your submission fee, in many cases.

WELCOME to the boards......
answers to questions:
1. Join the Collectors club at the platinum level ( it costs alot more than the lowest, but if going to submit coins, you get 8 free submissions, so the it evens out in the ling run)
2. Don't open the cases. Just send the coins in the cases. (chances are you'll scratch them taking them out or the flip you send 'em in will turn them milky before tey get there)
3. see answer to #2
enjoy yourself on the boards, and don't take nothing to heart......It can get hairy in here at times.........wes

<< <i>Sorry -- I meant 11 TIMES $14 per coin...

I agree, unless it is the 1999 silver proof set you can get most of them already graded for less than the grading fee on e-bay. You would have to submit hundreds and hundreds of coins to get the bulk rate and even then they are cheaper on e-bay.
