ODD, where is this influx of newcommers comming from?

I think it's wonderful that there are so many newbee's in the group, but I can't help but to remember a few years back when a certain school boy told his friends about this site, then they all signed up all at once and all asked for free coins, and all quick posting all at the same time.... after they got countless coins image

    they will all be long gone after the hype dies down over the new mint bullion products.. or maybe after they tire of spamming this forum about them and starting threads about them every ten minutes.. what most of these visa card bullion newbs dont realize is they are only screwing themselves and everyone else here for next years possible products with their big mouths

    What's this about Andy's news release to NN? What was it about, and why would it result in new members?

    I collected linclon cents when I was in my early teens. I lost interest when the price for the few key dates I had left became too prohibitive for my budget. I think with all of the new mint offerings, interest is being rekindled and many collectors are returning to the hobbie. For me the coin that did it was the 2005 Jefferson buffalo reverse nickel.
    Is a wannabe coin collector worse than a wannabe kayaker? If so, I'm in double trouble.

    Maybe I ought to tell all my high school kids to do the same thing? All you guys gave out free coins??? Hummmm?

    Actually, I got tired of watching the Giants lose and looked for something else to do. That's when I found ya'll.

    I lucked out and caught a story in Coin World about the W circs coming out and snagged some ASEs and some $10 plats. After I realized how lucky I was, I tried to Google some info on the mintages. Anyway, I found a thread from the Boards and I realized I had to finally sign-up!

    I'll be here long after the hoopla of the W's is over.

    I was asked about being an alt because I was talking about something on the board that happened a year or so before my "current" registration date. I joined in May 2004 and had it deactivated this past October because the board name I was using was trademarked. So, I started over so to speak.

    What kinda username is "trademarked" and was it you or someone else that pushed to have it nuked?
    I would believe that a username is fair game.

    I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

    I was a forum member a couple of years ago for a while and my computer crashed. When I got it going again (I got wiped off the forum,don't ask me how.) I have just been a lurker until recently. I never got any free coins but I have gotten a lot of knowledge from these boards. Thanks for that.image

    I think Andy's "news release" was just a matter of contacting NN about the unc-w plat sellout suddenly after board threads encouraged their purchase, as well as his informal poll results showing about 700 sets were bought by board members.

    Like animal keeper, I would have ended up here anyway. image
