Sounds Wierd.....

Has anyone found a coin in a box or plastic casing or even a slab while digging?

Just randomly popped out in my head...

Maybe someone threw it out or dropped their rare slabbed coin.

I have heard of some large hoards including slabbed coins and coins in original mint tubes being dug up. Obviously these were modern hoards buried in recent times, and often the people doing the digging are government agents or law enforcement officers, impounding the property of drug dealers or other underworld types who buried the loot.

But a single, randomly-lost coin in a slab or other numismatic encapsulation? No. Never heard of that.

In a box? Sure. People find coins in boxes and tins all the time. Like this, for instance.
