36-D buff in NCG 66 holder

I’ve been researching these as I plan an upgrade. In part because this coin/grade is so abundant, the premium of PCGS over NGC for this coin/grade really stands out in the auction archives. I thought this looked as nice as most of the coins in PCGS holders, but what do you think of this coin in an NCG 66 holder?

Looks fine for a 66 from those pictures. Nice strike, good even color, and abundant luster. 1936D's in 66 are very common, so even if you miss a good one, another better one will come along shortly image

Thanks. The NCG slabbed coins do seem to go at a substantial discount to their PCGS couterparts, but as a very general statement I liked to coins in PCGS holders better. This one seemed as nice or better (as a very general statement) to the PCGS slabbed coins.

buy the coin , if its in a NGC holder your not exactly slummin....Im am not a Buffalo collector, But I wanted one nice example...Picked one up this weekend at our yearly coin show...a 1937-S PCGS MS65 OGH,...overall golden tone , with a thin line of blue and red toning on the Rev rim.......I think your is graded properly , but I did see many buff 66's this weekend in NGC that were really 65, but again, buy the coin

I have found the buffaloes some of the hardest coins to grade. There is so much variance within one year on strike and luster that I get confused after just a few examples in similar grades. I have a Type I coin in 65 and a Type II in 67 and I like the one in 65 better. Even with a loupe I can't see much of a difference other than a couple of soft spots in strike. Kinda makes you wonder why someone would pay so much for the higher grades.

Nice looking buffalo. You can pick up some nice coins and good bargins in NGC slabs.

Did you notice the tomahawk chop on the Buffalo's shoulder? The coin should not be in a 66 holder in my opinion.
