What actual percentage of 70 did you have on first PCGS sub for 2006-w platinum?

Out of 5 $100 -one 70
out of 5 $50 -zero 70
out of 8 $25 -three 70
out of 8 $10 -one 70
Also I put them in as min grade of 70 so I don't have to crack them out for their second ride to pcgs. This kind of behavior does make the grade through precentage listed by pcgs misleading. The 2006-w plats are so serious I may just keep sending them back until its obvious no more will make grade.

I knew it would happen.
Good idea eric...how do they send the 69 coins back? recased in the mint box?

I was thinking about resubmitting some as well but I have this thought ...
PCGS keeps the original mint capsules from the first submission so,
Won't PCGS assume this is a resubmit and be tighter than usual with coins that are not submitted in mint capsules?
If so, anyone have any platinum mint capsules they want to sell??

Oh so close to a home run set - think it's worth picking up a $10 70? The ROUGH math I've done (less than 5 minutes of closed auction searching) says no. Long term could be different. What do you guys think?

I would. I don't believe they are going to get any cheaper than what the current prices are. I BIN'd on a $50 last night just to complete a 70 set. I am planning to sell a $50 MS69 to offset the added cost.

I know Loki, that's what I was thinking of doing. Thing is, these boys need to be paid for lol - but I would love to be able to hold onto a set of 70's for the long haul. I might have to get creative.
coin comes back without a 70 implies that there was an imperfection that precluded 70.
Send coin back and it comes back 70, does it really deserve it? I see 70 as a black and white boundry. Either there's an imperfection there or not.
I'm just amused by this whole way of thinking in this thread.

Grading's subjective - different day, different graders, different odds - Vegas - rolling the dice - selling the plastic - maximizing your profits - take your pick!
If they're going to host the game, might as well play it. I am not resubmitting, but I'm not going to judge anyone that is.

I just received an MS69 today in the mail that looks too good to be an MS69!
When a coin looks as good as this, I'd say resubmit! And I may do so.
Remember the rule of thumb!....Buy the coin! Not the plastic!
The imperfection may be in the eye of the grader......or, maybe everyone had chili-cheese burritos that day, and your coin arrived just before closing time.
I think I will keep my three 1oz platinum sealed in their individual mint boxes for a while until I decide what to do. With the date in December, I can get first strike for the three of them. I can't handle deciding what to do with them right now.

P.S. You know I "luv ya" Eric - nothing personal
I'm sending some across the street.
18 Fractions still in grading.
I don't know. I sent my coins in 2x2 flips with cardboard between them. They just send the coins back in the 2x2 flips for me. How they would handle the box I have no idea.
ericj96
I didn't know any better. But I did send them is min 70. If the ones that did not make it come back in 69 holders so be it. :-)
ericj96
Also guys I think we should try to complete a 70 set if we are anywhere close. Putting together a set like this in 70 grade is going to be a massive undertaking in the long run. The material is on the market now. Work in the light.

i`ve seen 70`s that had a little tick or two on it and i`ve seem too many 69`s that were perfect. its all just opinions. jmo
For the proof planchets that were used to mint the Plats, PCGS is way too tight with grading. Just looking at the pops for the Proofs tells you things are out of wack.
To say I am disappointed is an understatement. If the Plat Graders at NGC are too loose, than without a doubt the Plat Graders at PCGS are too tight.
There has to be a better balance because it is obvious that this will hurt sales. With ONLY 2,500 coins, not 250,000, grades need to be relative, not absolute, IMHO.
....but all and all, I'll take it ;> .....

pssst...just don't tell anyone, ...but I am really happy as hell to even had the chance to get the coins, let alone having so many.

I am buying up some PCGS MS 70's to get at least 3 sets. I got (2) hard ones out of the way, the $50's.
The (1) 1 oz. is going to be tough.....
Out of 3 $50 - one 70
Out of 5 $25 - one 70
Out of 5 $10 - two 70
I'm awaiting grades on a second submission and will post those later. I'm moderately pleased with these grades. I knew the $100 wouldn't get a 70 because it had some discoloration on the obverse.
4/14 = 28.5%
My photos are getting better, but still along way to go.
I like it like this better

If your goal is to keep 1 set, I'd sell the 69's and buy the 70 your missing.
Overall, I'm sitting at 33.3%.
Out of two $50 - no 70.
Out of six $100 - only one 70.
1/8 = 12.5%
Paired with my first submission is 5/22 = 22.7%
Why are these rates so much lower than the current pops?!
Well, at least I got one complete MS70 set.

I only submitted a single $25 and received an MS 70. When I submitted my AGE set, it came back as MS 70, RP 70, 69DCAM. I guess I have been VERY lucky with PCGS last year. I an only hope this year is as good. I've yet to submit my silver sets for grading. maybe I should before my luck runs out! LOL Ray
2 of 3 $10.00 MS-70
0 of 3 $25.00 MS-70
0 of 3 $50.00 MS-70
0 of 3 $100.00 MS-70
The remaining 14 coins were all MS-69.
I knew it would happen.
$50 1 MS70 out of 10 10%
$25 1 MS70 out of 25! 4%
$10 1 MS70 out of 10 10%
The last 2 submissions(bulk) I have done through a local dealer have both been atrocious... haven't seen any worse... Maybe they don't like that dealer.
Gold $25 1 ms70 out of 50! 2%
$10 3 ms70 out of 60! 5%
$5 3 ms70 out of 60! 5%
The gold submission above was also done with the Platinum.
Earlier I had sent in 40 sets of ASE;
got 20 reverse proof 68's
20 reverse proof 69's
I also learned (the hard way) about how the Mint processes credit cards. I placed 4 orders for 3 coins each (the sets were sold out by then) on 12/18. I broke it up into multiple orders just in case there was a problem, I would at least get some of the coins. Well Chase (issuing bank for Credit Card) blocked all of my transactions but 1 (one order was placed on another card). The mint tries to get 2 approvals and then cancels the order, and I was too late in calling Chase to tell them to let the charges go (that they were indeed legit) so I lost 6 of the coins to cancelled orders.
Now I know to call the CC company after placing an order so they go through. But I'm happy that I did get 6 coins anyway.
Any speculation as to what the MS70 will go for in 6-24 months?
I suspect credit card companies like Chase cost many people a chance to get the Plats.
