PCGS first coin graded?
![aus3000tin](https://us.v-cdn.net/6027503/uploads/userpics/044/n5RSUIHQX6SFQ.jpg)
Can anyone tell me what the first coin (with a designation) that PCGS graded?
I have a bet with a friend.
I say it was probably a Morgan Dollar, due to their popularity in the 1980's.
My friend, Matt, says it was probably a gold double eagle.
Any help?
Thanks,
Chris

So, is this true ?

Why is there NO documentation to support this ?
I would think the President or CEO of PCGS would have received the very first coin.
Any thoughts ?

I don't know. It appears you are asking about the first coin officially 'graded'. That is with a 'grade' on it? I assume it would be one of those in the rattler holder with the white label and if I recall correctly starts with the 108 serial number (as shown). Like this Gen1.0 in the museum of coins.

(only used in the first few days of PCGS operations)

.
EDIT
The Gen1.1 also starts with 108 but has a different label print per museum of holders.

I believe this was covered in another thread . . . a 1934 Medium Motto Washington Quarter.

First ever slabbed coin by PCGS was an 1982 Washington Quarter. The first graded slabbed coin by PCGS was a 1934 Washington Quarter.

I'd still prefer the cricket.

The cricket does have that "eye appeal" factor, doesn't it?

The buyer of that needs to send it back to PCGS for a reholder...mechanical error.
