Two NGC AU 3c pieces (now gone to eBay), two Garrett metal detectors (not on eBay yet, might swap fo

Will consider coin trade offers on the metal detectors, since I have four machines at the moment and would like to narrow it down to two. Also, I can't find my camera battery pack at the moment to take pics of the detectors, or they'd probably have already gone to eBay. I'll offer a 30-day return on the detectors. Can't guarantee you'll find Chain cents, Bust dollars, and chests full of gold with them right away, but I will guarantee them to be in working order and suitable for coinshooting. Full return privilege on the coins, too, of course.

Garrett GTAx-550 metal detector: $250 including UPS shipping
(Cash/PayPal buyers also get a free new pack of batteries and some kind of freebie coin or coins)

My primary detector for about two years. Used, average condition, some scuffiness associated with normal use, good working condition. Includes standard 8.5" Crossfire coil and small 4.5" 'Sniper' coil, plus the video and manual if I can find them (if I can't, here is the PDF of it online). Most of the metal detector finds I have posted in the last two years were found with this machine. They include stuff like an 1850 large cent, an 1877-S dime, and several nice Civil War and earlier buttons. This is a great middle-of-the-line coinshooter but can be used for relic hunting, too. Compare with a new one here.

Garrett Ultra GTA-1000 metal detector: $350 including UPS shipping
(Cash/PayPal buyers also get a free new pack of batteries and some kind of freebie coin or coins)

Pristine, like-new condition. Never used by me personally- I just got it and was told it was only used 7 or 8 times by the previous owner. Perfect working condition. He obviously took good care of it and did not use it much, since it looks like a new machine. Includes standard 8.5" Crossfire coil, and 5x9"(?) elliptical coil. The manual is included but here it is in PDF if you want a peek at it beforehand. I think this model was superceded by the GTAx series and is no longer sold by Garrett (though I am sure they still service them, should that ever prove necessary). I don't know what they cost new, but I am guessing it was somewhere north of $500 (the GTA-500 and GTAx-550, which are the models below it, sell in the $400+ range new).

Might go to eBay with the coins soon.

Still no means of photographing the detectors, so they'll hit eBay later, unless somebody offers me a good swap on them (please- I have too many detectors!)

  • Wish I'd seen that 1888 before you put it on the Bay--but I'm watching it.

Thanks, bb- it sat here with no nibbles for a week or two. Had some pending swaps for the 3cs but it ended up staying with me.

The 3c pieces have some bids now and the cheaper one of the metal detectors is possibly sold. Still have the better of the two detectors up for sale or swap.

  • What type of coins might you be interested in for a trade on one of the metal detectors? I have morgans.

Morgans would work, though I have plenty right now. I am always in the market for 19th century type. Gold of any kind (US or foreign) is good. In my antique mall booth, I mostly sell raw coins under $100, with the occasional $200-300 piece. Would really love some low- to mid- grade Bust halves, but any 19th century type is good by me, as I mentioned. I am also seeking AU classic silver commems for my personal collection (which is in a Dansco album, so either raw or slabbed coins are fine).

Partial 20th century folder sets (minus the keys but maybe with a semi-key or two) are also useful to me. However, I have all the Merc dimes, Washington quarters, and Franklin halves I need right now.

I could use some low- to mid-grade Barber halves, hopefully including a few from the 1890s. But I might have some of those coming in a swap. Still, one can never have too many 19th century coins, even Barbers.
