I was sitting in my office yesterday when I got a call that a doctor wanted me to come look at his collection to buy. I jumped in the car and headed to his office. When I got there, the guy had two rooms full of old and new cards. The baseball cards from the 50's were easy to place a value, however the 750,000 new cards was a little more difficult. This guy opened up 3-4 boxes everyday when he got off of work. He trashed the commons and put the star/minor inserts into his 5000 ct. boxes each day. The big signatures went into a 1" screwdown (Gretsky, Lemieux, Jordan). The guy has tons of new stuff which I know nothing about.
He has the first two complete sets of the Be A Player Hockey autograph sets with the Gretsky. The next two years of Be A Player are not complete. He has tons of football autographs (Greg you might be interested in this) from the Fleer Greats of the game and UD Legends? Can anyone give me an idea of what these sets are worth?
Thanks for any help-.

Believe it or not. When I saw this stuff you were the first person that came to mind. The football autographs that I did see had 82 of them which had some duplicates. I saw 4 Drew Persons, Randy White, Babe Parelli, Fran Tarkenten and Zorn. They were black so I hope you know what set I am describing. I know that there was one card that was a SP which had a BV of $120. I checked when I got home to see what the Beckett value of these were and the commons booked for $20. I know that this is probably not market value, but I needed some sort of gauge on the value of this lot. Once I buy this collection, I will let you know who I have. There are also some of the SPX cards (Rice and Montana) that were in the screwdowns.

Also, there was one or two Marino autos.
The first set is complete with both signatures of Kozlov (full and short). I am not sure about the #119 card as a send in if that is there. I will check this out. I know this set was a very hard set to assemble. If the set has a book value of $3200, what is a reasonable value to assign this set? Do you think because of its rarity it would sell for more? Do you think it would sell closer to $2300?
You have helped me, Thanks.

Shane, I think more in the 1800-2000 range , mainly because it does'nt have more stars, Jagr, Fedorov,Lemieux,Hull, ect ect, also check the #115 Yzerman autograph a strong signature would bring more as most of the signatures were weak and light. Of course if you get 2 or 3 bidders that can't live without it the sky is the limit (3-5 thousand). Here is an example that is not noted in price guides different style gretzky autos and my best Yzerman auto.
Ledfoot- I believe I have both in this collection. Will let you know.
Diamondman- thanks once again.
