All I want for XMAS is a higher user rating.

My nephew was looking at the board with me last night. I explained the user rating to him (1 being low, 10 being high) and told him that I was doing pretty good, especially for someone who doesn't post much. His response was "we always should try to do better, Uncle B., if these are your friends and liike you they should give you a better score".
He's here for a couple of more days. I'm the first to admit that it's self serving, but he's a great kid (four) and I'd like to show him that a, reasonably nice person. who makes a polite attempt, can succeed and try to do better just as he said.
If you're so inclined, please consider it. If not, I completely understand. In addition to the presents, I'd like the lad to return home with a smile on his face for challenging me to do better and seeing the results.
Happy Holidays!!!!

<< <i>I don't want to crush the little guy's lofty view of uncle tcmitssr. >>
I'm really not worthy, but thanks.
He's the one young one, including our own, who seems to have a real interest in numismatics. I'm trying to foster it in as many of the kids (ours, nephews, nieces etc.) but, to date, he's it.
I gotta get one of them into the hobby....I just have to!!!!!!
Thanks again!
<< <i>Where do you see this user rating? >>
Click on the pair of eyeglasses to the far right. If you are so inclined, 10 is the best and 1 is the worst.
Thanks a lot, it will mean a great deal to him and help me get, one of the kids at least, to continue growing an interest in the hobby.

<< <i>10's all the way.
From the bottom of my heart, and in the spirit of the season, I thank ALL of you very much!
<< <i>I don't want to crush the little guy's lofty view of uncle tcmitssr. >>
Yeah, normally I'd rate any user who asks to be rated a big fat 1, but in the spirit of Christmas and for the kid I went with a 10.

When I had mine enabled I used to get almost nothing but 1s and 10s.
Which really puzzled me, because I'm certainly not one of the best or one of the worst. I think I'm about a 6, personally. But to some degree, it's just a popularity contest anyway. I never won many of those.

Thanks Russ, although I'm surprised you never got to me before now. ;-)
It's Christmas Eve after all, and with a
story like that, how could I give you
anything but a 10!!
So, there you go.

<< <i>How's this rating system work? >>
Look to the eyeglass icon to the right and click on it. If you haven't left someone a rating, you can then do so. The jury's out as to whether one or ten is high but I'm in the 10 is the highest while 1 is the lowest camp.
Thanks for your consideration, regardless of whether you decide to help me.
Happy Holidays!
<< <i>Got you to 6.66
Thanks! I very much appreciate it.
Happy Holidays!
I try to give all contributors a "10", unless they bug me.
I wasn't aware of the user system.
Thanks you get a 10 from me.
I thought 1 was the best???

I think probably half the folks think a 1 is the best while the other half think it's ten.
I've always been taught that the higher number is the one to strive for in life.
That's what my nephew thinks as well, so that's good enough for me.
Thanks and Happy Holidays.

<< <i>I'm pretty sure 1 is the lowest, I say this because I thought it was the best. So I gave you a 1 and the user rating went down a bit LOL. Sorry bout that.
We all make mistakes, thanks for trying anyway!
Merry Christmas and/or Happy Holidays depending on your personal faith and beliefs.

Thanks! My nephew just took a look at what's happening and ran out the room squealing with glee.
Of course, it might be the 1/10 ounce gold bullion I just gave him as an early Christmas present.
Seriously, many thanks and Happy Holidays!

What will you show this lad that you have done to cause the increase in your rating? Personally, I don't see anything that would trigger your rating. Perhaps, to be on the safe side, you should post a picture of a coin and do a "show and tell" kind of thing. Just is case your nephew wises up!

<< <i>Not to be a party pooper but what if your child asks you why your rating went up, what are you going to tell him? >>
Well, if it were me I'd tell him that nice people did something nice for me because I asked them politely. People can do nice things for each other even if there's nothing in it for them. Seems like a good lesson.

P.S. I gave the original poster a 10. Great to hear of another budding YN.

I've never understood that here. How do you make each different level?
Thanks again, to one and all for your support on this thread. As he went to bed, he saw the latest number and said how "it's really growing". He wanted to keep clicking to see until we reminded him that tomorrow is another day and Santa won't come until he is asleep.
So, after putting out his milk and cookies, he carried his 1/10 oz Eagle to bed with him. Smart kid, alhough we did talk him into leaving it on the dresser so it doesn't get lost while he's asleep.
Thanks again for your help, Happy Holidays!
<< <i>You get a 1, the kid gets a 9 >>
I've got no qualms with that, actually I'd take a zero and give him a ten.

I agree with you along with the idea that those nice people did it as a XMAS present for him and not for me. Plus, he's the only one of all the kids who shows real interest when I "drag" out the classic commemorative typeset. He knows all about the family history from upstate New York and talks about his "great, great, great, great, great, great relative" on the Albany as well as how he's been to Hudson.
He's on his way to inheriting the whole darn thing being the only one who has been interested.

Hey, thanks Leo! Ditto.
EDIT: Well, I *would* have if you had it turned on.

There's a reason for that......never have.......but I do like upping the ante, so to speak, as constructive it may be.

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)
