<< <i>Ziggy: Thanks for your post about my new 1837 Reeded Edge CBH. Do you happen to have a link or photo of the Ira Stein 1837 CBH that you referred to for my reference and for comparison? >>
I feel like I'm losing my mind. It was on eBay and it sold for $1,095 a few days ago but I can't find it with any searches. Very odd...

Barndog: I agree with your above quoted comment -- And what makes it appear even more lustrous to me, is that the original seller's image is really a scan and not a digital photograph!!

<< <i>Ziggy - did it look like this?
No, that wasn't it. The piece I'm referring to was toned more.
<< <i>I bought it in an NGC MS62 holder and sold it in a PCGS AU58 holder!!

I think you got raped on that coin, it is Beautiful and definately looks Uncirculated to me

AU58 - I'd need to look darn close to see where the rub is. If you send it to me, I'll report back later.

Me too, and I feel so much better everytime the coin comes back and it matches what I KNOW from my own eyes what is a properly graded coin. Don't you , too
Which one of you guys sold me the NGC AU58 Nickel 1943/2 for a couple hundy a few months back ?... It was exactly right in it's grade. I saw that, even though I paid market price, to me it's now worth more in a PCGS holder. At least for the most part, the scrutinization is more focused with regard to ALL of the technical issues of grading on this side of the street.
The STRIKE ,EYE APPEAL, PLANCHET, RIM, LEGENDS, LUSTER... so many things to factor in and for those who can see it, there is a fortune to make. This post is not to kiss up, nor is it to bash my brothers in the ANA. I am a member too. I am sure if you look at coins with the same view EVERYTIME, you will grade it the same EVERY time. Cracking out days are probably numbered as companies strive for what is RIGHT.
Anyway, knock on wood ! Cross your fingers ! Say your Prayers ! ... but anyway ya look at it, Standards are different where ever we go. Just as cultures are, grading companies are.

P.S. Thanks Stuart. Anyone got an XF example for my dansco. I know the difference between dip, damaged and fake. I'll suggest you contact me PM and I will have a spot filled in my dansco .

<< <i>Nice coin, just a trace of friction, this is the kind of coin that goes MS61-62 at lesser services. >>

Al: In reply to your above quoted question, I believe that the two lines that you are referring to are planchet striations that were present since the coin was struck, and do not appear to be post mintage slide contact marks.
Thanks to everybody for your kind words and posts about my new 1837 RE Capped Bust Half!!
