At present, the best reference book on the Bust quarters is the Ard W. Browning monograph, published (I think) in 1925. It has been reprinted several times since, and some of the reprints have better reproductions of the photographic plates than others. As a supplement to that, Jules Reiver published his excellent "Variety Identification Manual" on the series in 1987, but they are long out of print and difficult to locate. Try some of the numismatic book dealers, such as Charlie Davis. If you can be a bit patient, two members of the JRCS are currently working on a comprehensive new reference book on the series, which may become available in the next year or so. Also, I would encourage membership in the John Reich Collector's Society (JRCS) for anyone interested in the Bust coinage, and membership in the satellite group Bust Quarter Collectors Society (BQCS) for anyone interested in the Bust quarters, specifically. PM me and I will provide you with more information about membership in either organization.
