Do not feel bad. I bid only $425.00 on the 1964-D FB dime for my mint set and was blown away by the hammer prices (not including the 15% BP) of the coins I was watching. I thought maybe with Christmas coming on that I might get a deal. What I received was a reality check
1964 5c PCGS MS65 FS $550.00

My Washington Type B/C Set
I don't think the prices realized is nuts at all. I was very impressed with the results
based on previous sales. Savvy collectors are realizing that the Roosevelt FB series
is under valued compared to other denominations. The 1955 MS67FB brought
a whopping $2600. Much higher then the previous one sold for. This is a pop 4
coin, Now relate that price to any other denomination around the same year
that has the same pop. Every other denomination would sell for multiples of
that price. I would like to see an MS67FB 57P, 58P, 63P or 63D come up for
auction. It would not surprise me to see any one of those dates realize a price
of $4K - $5K. As time goes on I think we will continue to see green in the PCGS
price guide for this series.

My Registry Sets
<< <i>I agree Nick. This series is very undervalued compared to all the other series of the same period. A pop 4 pop top coin in from the middle 50's in the other series I collect, Lincolns, would probably be considered a bargain at $10K, yet this Roosie brings about 25% of that and is thought to be moon money? Somewhere down the road, and I think sooner rather than later, we'll all realize what a bargain it was!

Thanks, QBert. I'm the proud papa of that one now. Anxious to get it in hand and put it in the Registry.
Nick, yep, I had to go to the extra piggy bank for this one.

Does DLRC do somekind of automatic house bid?
<< <i>Looks like I did win some after all. Thought I got outbid on everything.

Ya think ? I was not kidding with a previous post to this thread.

The Roosie dime set is (or always has been) undervalued IMO when compared to other sets.
It always had the current series stigma and the Mercury dime to contend with.
I always liked them myself. You guys have some nice coins in your Reg sets.

<< <i>This thread got me too go and break out my Roosie collection in its Whitman book. About 25 years ago I actively pursued the set. Coins are all 'BU'. Full Bands was known back then but (for me at least) was not a requirement. Some of the coins have toned.

I too have a set in an old whitman, collected back in the 70's. The reason some of you think its undervalued is demand. Go to any local show and ask the dealers how many rosies they sell and carry in inventory.

When I go to coin shows, its usually gold, gold and more gold, along with tons and tons of Morgan and Peace Dollars. Oh and when the have some dimes, they are usually Mercs. Oh and when they finally get to letting me know about Roosies, they usually have overpriced common MS65FB material and then the stragler MS66FB/MS67FB are 2-3x's more then what I'm willing to pay.
