Custom Coin Album?

JoeLewisJoeLewis Posts: 1,911 ✭✭✭✭
Is there any way to have a custom coin album made?

What I mean is, a coin album where the slots are determined by the buyer to meet a specific set (unconventional) he/she is working on.

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks

Joe

No. Figure out how to do it economically and you will become rich.

Capital Plastics at one time offered a service to custom-build their lucite holders, but this is very expensive to do.

One of my Darkside pals recently had some custom Dansco albums done.

I am astonished Dansco doesn't offer albums for British large pennies, as avidly collected as they are, worldwide. In fact, their offerings are rather astonishing- NO British albums but they offer a Fiji type set album. FIJI, fer cryin' out loud!

I believe you can "make your own" Dansco as Michael did; perhaps you should get the details from him. Actually, he did the pages himself with transfer type, and Dansco did the cover for him.

If your set consists of all coins of the same denomination and/or size, it should be doable. It's when you wanna design custom type sets that I would imagine you'll run into trouble, with the different-sized ports.

Best option I've found for custom albums are the Eagle albums... you can keep slabbed coins together with coins in 2x2s. They do get pretty expensive though, and are rather bulky.

Oh, Andy, never say no. As TomB said, Capital Plastics offers a service to custom manufacture one of their Plexiglas holders with holes and labels any way you'd like. Perhaps a bit costly, but I have seen at least one such holder, made for a fabulous collection of Liberty Seated half dimes, that was most pleasing.

Another approach would be to purchase a Dansco #7000 stock album and several blank pages for the denomination that you collect and label the holes any way you like with dry transfer letters. It is a bit time consuming, but if done correctly and neatly it can bring very satisfying results.
They that can give up essential Liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither Liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin

Argh! It's a custom type set that I am after. That Capped Bust large size kills everything!

See if you can find the Whitman Classic type set album. It includes a lot that the Dansco 7070 doesn't.

Because the slot for it is not the same size slot as anything else.
