  • I ordered 2 of them, and will put them on the shelf next to the two I have from 2005. Don't know that they will ever have much of a following. The bulky packaging is not my favorite. I'm wondering if upcoming years will result in mintages that are more like 80-100k and the 05s and 06s might become key dates for the series...

    what are they?
  • I really don't like them because they contain the same coins found in other sets, but housed in a fancy package. The price for last year's issue quickly rose on the second market, but soon after fell quite sharply.

    Here ya go
"This remarkable collection of proof condition coins marks the second year of the United States Mint's American Legacy Collection that began in 2005. In addition to proof versions of all United States Mint 2006-dated circulating coins, this set also includes proof versions of the Benjamin Franklin Founding Father Silver Dollar and the San Francisco Old Mint Silver Dollar. Presented in unique and prestigious packaging, it is the most complete offering of United States Mint 2006-dated coins. This new, exclusive collection is strictly limited to 50,000 sets."

Oh yeh. Another gotta have item on ebay.

I'm thinking this is the last year, otherwise they would have to put the Prez $1 in, and I don't see where those would fit in the current set up, it would just be to big and bulky.

  • somebody does.......I sold the 1 I mistakenly bought for $185

I have last years and I have ordered and am waiting for this years to ship!

These will end up being like the prestige proof sets!
  • I have last years and ordered the 2006 set that I'll display in my bar room with the other. My order has gone from in stock to backordered alteast 5 or 6 times. Anyone else?

    Yep back to backordered.

I ordered the first day, I should be first, but who knows.

So, basically it's a prestige set.
  • Well, there's one more available. I just canceled mine.
I don't see the point. I've got all the coins and don't need the extra packaging.

I bought the 2005 one because I liked the package and it was the only way to get the USMC coin. I ordered the 2006 thinking about continuing the set but, for the $135 I could buy a W Gold Eagle and have money to spare.

Same here. I felt my money would be better spent on the ASE 20th Anniv. sets. Good guess.

I ordered one last year because I like the concept of coin sets. I held on to it for too long (during the period when people were paying stupid money for them) and then blew it off for the basically the issue price.

The set is kind of stupid because it contains previously issued coins in a big cardboard holder at a $30 premium. There is really nothing special about it except that the Proof set coins are mounted in the vertical position rather than horizontal.
