pssst...buddy, can you spare a 2 Franc?

I'm closing in my NGC multi-slab submission for what i consider one of the most beautiful obverses ever. This week , I found 'no-line fatty' NGC slabs for the 1 and half francs, all higher end grades. Now, I just need to find the 2 Franc; unless they made this design in a larger issue around this time? The 5 Francs versions have something other than this obverse, so i'll bypass that one. Anything i'm missing from the Swiss family that has this standing Helvetia?

thanks!

Doug

here is tonight's NEWP; grading was pretty strict in those days, anyone think i can pull an MS68 out of a re-submission?:

BTW, if someone can steer me to a NGC or PCGS 2 franc of this same quality, i've got a couple of darkside "finder's fees" coins for ya'!

    thanks!

    Sure, but not Swiss.

    And not Mint State.

    And not slabbed.

Actually, I think I might have one or two Swiss 2-franc pieces of that type but they are raw and not MS.

Had a helluva nice raw MS66-67 1966 1-franc piece from Dimitri's hoard, but my uncle ended up with that.

I know MacCrimmon is a specialist in these coins and might just be able to hook you up. From time to time Syracusian sells his culls, too (and those tend to range from MS65-67).

Even if you could, I question that it would really be that worthwhile. I'd keep it in the old slab. I like the fatties.

I'd need a much better image to even come close to a guess on the grading issue.

    68:

    1. Blasty, blinding luster, and I mean blinding.
    2. Maybe one mark in the fields - - no light scrapes/abrasions possible
    3. absolutely fully struck.
    4. No marks/abrasions/stacking friction on any high points of Helvetia, and maybe only 1 tick on the shield.
    5. The reverse can hide a few sins, but nothing that I can pick up with my naked eye, except a few frost breaks on the wreath...no ticks either on the date or '2 FRANCS'.

The only 2 frs. I have currently are both 1955 SP67 Black & White cameos (both PCGS). Good luck in the 2 fr. hunt. image

alrighty then! Ajaan and I just finalized the deal that will bring in the 2 francs, NGC MS67. I'll resubmit these to NGC to do the ole' multi-holder thing, and post pictures when it comes back. thanks all!

I just absolutely love Swiss coinage. Whether it be lower grade or gem quality. Some day I'll have a gem.......some day.

Lovely coins you have there Doogy. It's fun to watch your collection grow.
