that is the SUPERSIZED picture there. I especially like this line from the seller :
"this would be a great addition for anyones collection and it is hard to find this coin...''

HARD TO FIND IS RIGHT !

It says it's in Neptune...but as an experienced astronomer I'd say the color isn't quite right. It looks a little like Uranus but that's not right either. I'd say it's one of Jupiter's moon, probably Europa, during eclipse.

  • wow, it acutally got a bid!

Windex® cleaned it right off my screen.
  • I can't tell that it's a coin actually! How on earth does that auction have a bid with those pics?
  • It looks like a period in Times Roman 36. image
If you haven't noticed, I'm single and miserable and I've got four albums of bitching about it that I would offer as proof.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

How in the world do you "find" these coins?

Is that scratch near Miss Liberty's cheek on the coin or on the holder?

Nice but it looks like it has been cleaned and retoned to me.

As funny as this thread appears to be, this other coin by the same seller, and subsequent description is a travestyimage... it sure looks cleaned, dipped and puttied to me.
I am suspicious of the field on the obverse (copy cast, or that pot metal appearance) Below is the seller's description. Anyone else see this or wonder about it ?

1800 bust dollar in vf plus condition. pcgs $2,500 T his is an awesome bust silver dollar in flawless condition.

Alot of detail very even gray tonning, and the lettering eplurubus unim is very visable! Rims are in great condition no dings, or scratches on the coin . This will definatly grade as VF plus or even better. never been repaired or cleaned. This speicimen in this condition is very hard to find! Came directly from an estate sale which the owners held onto for years.

You cannot go wrong with this awesome coin, Grab it up. Good luck the winner will get a great prize.

On Nov-15-06 at 06:11:22 PST, seller added the following information:
NEVER CLEANED OR REPAIRED NATURAL TONNING, DETAILS VERY STRONG,THE BEST BUST DOLLAR YOU ARE GOING TO FIND ON EBAY GOOD LUCK!

  • There looks to be some weirdness on the left field obverse. And the coloration on the hair looks "off". The reverse has that dark patch running down the center. "E Pluribus Unum" isn't "very visible", by any stretch of the imagination. And now that I look at them, the denticles seem uneven to me.

    I would pass.

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

I don't understand what's so funny. The seller wrote "Select a picture" when he meant "select a speck" -it's as simple as that.image

  • Does the coin look a bit large for a half dime? I know my fingers are kind of fat, but most half dimes
aren't as wide as a finger unless this is a very skinny woman
