Anyone have any idea what the deal is with this odd PCGS Slab Box?

I was going through some odds and ends getting ready to clear out stuff that's built up and came across this odd PCGS box.
Any ideas what PCGS used it for? Are there others?

Well, it's sort of tinted, a little. You could use it to watch solar eclipses and stuff.

Might want to hang onto it. I think some of those early slab boxes are valuable.

Pat, judging from the pictures, in my opinion it was used as a means of storage for PCGS holdered coins. The larger section was used as the bottom and the smaller section was used as the lid.

That particular box was offered to the Smithsonian to hold Dillinger's dick. They declined.

They prefer the big jar with formaldehyde.

I got some of those when I bought a large group of sample slabs. Their not as strong as the green or blue boxes but they are cool.

Holds PCGS second generation to current, not the rattlers.

Smoke colored boxes were never suppossed to have left PCGS and were to be used internally only. It was covered on the board years ago.

Thread reminds me... ya know those stickers on the end of the blue boxes that have smoeones name on them...

I have some PCGS boxes that have a "David Hall" sticker. Imagine what these lil' puppies will be worth in time!
