ICG News - James Taylor Hired as CEO

Many board members have been sending me pm's asking if James was going to come back to ICG after he left ANACS. I just found out today and am happy to announce that he will be ICG's CEO as of January 1, 2007. It will be great having James back and I wanted everyone on the board to know first.

I heard that James Taylor resigned because of family problems back home in Colorado. Going back to ICG makes sense.

How To Move from #4 grading service to #3

Step 1: Send mole to #3 company.
Step 2: Have him make as many farked up decisions in one year as possible.
Step 3: Hire mole back, and have him bring back lots of inside info.
    Step 4: Profit!

This is way farked up from top to bottom.

    This smells like yesterday's diapers.

Here's what I expect to hear from ANACS (pick one):

    1) We're shutting down. We gave it our best shot, but it's over.

    2) We've agreed to be purchased by ICG for an undisclosed sum.

    3) We're suing ICG and JT.

    4) We are taking Wondercoin's advice and hiring 4 world class graders and paying them each $1 million per year. Plus, we are buying SEGS for $2 million so we can use their bullet-proof slabs.

Do you think ICG has the funds for that and the thoughtfulness and foresight to do it?
Also, they would HAVE to have a new slab or at least a new insert in order to differentiate.

They have dug a deep well for themselves right now and are pretty much in bed with some of the TV hawkers to the degree that to change their course now would be costly.

The slabs ICG uses are the best in the industry, IMO. I have a number of ICG slabbed ancient coins, and am very happy with their grading and attribution. It is a shame they went with the telemarketers for all the modern MS/PR 70's, it just hurts their reputation.

I don't know how they can recover from that, but they have a great niche with ancients.

Ya know, I was just thinking....this is kind of like the dotcom days right before the big bust....(not saying the coins are busting anytime soon but it is similar).

The dotcom folks would jump from job to job ... promotion to leave...more morning at the new company....then, go back to original company with another promotion and even more money.....then.... BUST.

Miles....James....visible people playing the "hop around" game.

ICG does a good job in my opinion. They have one tuff slab to holder the coins they grade. I have no problem with the way they grade. I own several coins graded by ICG and i am very happy with them.

That happens in a lot of, if not most industries. It doesn't have any correlation to a big bust.

Honestly, how can anyone say such a thing after what has happened to ANACS? Whether or not it was directly HIS fault, it certainly falls back on him and his reputation.

It might be a good break for them if you don't like them and wish for them to go belly up.
  • "Cameron - Are you going to ANACS now?"

No way. I love it at ICG.

"Whats going to happen to the Paul Defelice guy?"

Paul is still Vice President of Client Relations and Marketing, and has plenty of work and projects to do to keep him busy.

Goose, I doubt that you or any of us knows if James was responsible for the problems at ANACS. Therefore, it's unfair to continue to blame him, either directly or indirectly.

I've heard more than once that PCGS's submissions are down recently (though I don't know if that is a fact or not), I still see lots of customer service complaints, and then there is the "first strike" lawsuit. Why don't you blame Ron Guth for those things?, even though I'm highly doubtful that they are his fault. Is it that if he stays he's not responsible, but that if he departs, it must have been his fault? What happened to fairness and courtesy?
