One of the most prized stamps was used to mail in a ballot in Miami this past week.

An Inverted Jenny (an upside down biplane) that only 1 page was known to exist was used.

The page was broken up into 4's and singles long ago.

The 500.000 is the value of the stamp after it's use!

The govt. now owns the stamp.

Good for you.

Hard to believe isn't it? Note that an Inverted Jenny is only a 24 cent stamp so technically the envelope should have been sent back "postage due" - LOL

Reports claim rarity used on absentee vote

A number of reports in the USA are suggesting that an absentee vote cast in Tuesday’s midterm elections was posted using the famous Inverted Jenny stamp.

Officials in Broward County, Florida noticed an unusual looking stamp as they were counting absentte votes. County Commissioner John Rodstrom, a former stamp collector, recognised it instantly.

The stamp is now being kept in storage, with voting laws stating that along with the vote itself, it must be archived for two years and then destroyed.

Mitch Kopkin, proprietor of the Tropical Stamp shop in Fort Lauderdale declared that whilst it was highly unlikely that the stamp was a genuine Inverted Jenny, it would fetch between $50,00 and $200,000 if it was proved to be the real thing.

  • That's just incredible image
  • In other news..."The guy that accidently mailed that stamp has just jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge!"
  • I hope they follow up on the story. I want to know if anyone claims it was their stamp.
