IMO if Miles takes over, and the parent company gets out of his way, he will make ANACs a top tier company.

Whitman doesn't have anything to do with it as they no longer own ANACS.

Huh? Did Whitman's parent company sell ANACS?

That would be news to me. I don't think so.

I didn't think that Whitman owned ANACS, but I could be wrong. Does anyone know for sure?

Anderson Press owns both Whitman and ANACS. Their office is in the same building as Whitman Publishing here in Atlanta.

My understanding (subject to correction) is that Charles Anderson and/or Anderson Press, the parent company of Whitman Publishing, is the owner of ANACS.

Longacre, Anderson bought ANACS about a year and half ago. Taylor was brought in by Anderson to turn ANACs into a top tier TPG. I believe they were looking for a smoother road than the bumpy road Taylor was taking.

If they don't mind moving the operation to California, I'll take the job.

Are you sure that was their goal? image

Maybe robertpr was confusing Anderson Press who owns ANACS now with Amos Press that sold ANACS.

Exec from Whitman will temp take over until a replacement for James is picked.....dust off your resumes LOL

Again James leaving is not because of "bumpy roads" etc....

just simple retire to spend more time with family!

    Jon,
Be realistic, James did not leave Colorado to go to Ohio and then leave Ohio to go to Texas if he didn't have a plan to improve ANACS. This spending more time with family stuff is getting pretty stale IMHO. Steveimage

I wonder if ANACS will now be in play as a takeover target?

I highly doubt it. The Anderson's overall plan appears to be progressing quite nicely.

The decision will be based on whatever the owner feels will result in the highest profit. This is business, not coin collecting.

Please TDN, tell us what that plan is. I take it from your previous statement it is not to make ANACs a top tier TPG.

I think running the show at ANACS would be a great opportunity

Anacs has no more market credibility today than a year or two ago.
So what's all the fuss about?

Seems to me it'd be more profitable to be a grader of coins to national retailers than to attempt to beat NGC and PCGS at their own game in the collector arena.
