New Purchase - 1st Bust Half!

I was surfing around the bay tonight, saw this with 2 minutes left and impulse bought it. I don't know or care if it was a good deal or not, I just liked the coin. I don't have any ANACS new holders yet so that's a bonus too.

I believe there are about 4 different varities of the 1827, you can have fun identifying that.

Nice solid reverse on that coin...impulse buying is FUN! Just ask my wife!

$75 not out of line...collect what you like, like what you collect.

    Congrats on the purchase slipgate.
You will love the coin when you get her in hand.
Try and post some pics of that little lady when you get her.
There are 49 varieties of the 1827 CBH.

Actually there are 49 die marriages or varieties for 1827--with bigger pictures a number of forum members could attribute (determine the specific die marriage) it for you. Enjoy!--bust halves can be addictive.

I love bust halves too. You can get some nice coins for way under $100. Once you get a few you should get the Die variety book by Don Parsley and have some fun seeing what overton varieties you have. You might get some nice surprises. I found a couple of R5's in my small collection.

Nice start on collecting Capped Bust Half Dollars. I always wonder about people who submit 1827 CBHs to ANACS/NGC and don't bother paying the little bit extra for variety designation. With 49 1827 varieties, where half are at least R4-, there is a reasonable chance on hitting a rare marriage.image

It looks like it might be nice, but without a return policy stated I would not have bid. Why? Because you really don't know what the surfaces look like and the apparent originality might actually be secondary toning over obviously cleaned or dipped surfaces.

I'll post some pics when it comes in and we'll see who can come up with the variety. Thanks all (boy, the day shift can be rough though).
