Why are these ASE sets so popular here?

I think we have more threads about the ASE sets than the number of people who have actually ordered one.

I have been tempted to order more for the quick profit, or possibility of, but this isn't my business.
I'd be living on a diet of corn flakes if it was.

Big mistake. The reverse proof will only be available in the anniversary set.

+1 purposes, of course!
2. Some people think the silver set, with a mintage of 250,000, might become "the poor man's cash cow."
3. The mint screwed people over with the gold set by promising more coins than it authorized itself to deliver.
4. The mint, even when it says “you coins have been mailed” sends sets with a cost of $2,610.00 via parcel post.
5. Years ago the mint would send $5 Proof sets via Registered Mail. Now they send $2,610.00 sets of coins the same way one would mail a sack of navy beans.
6. The mint provides Post Office tracking numbers don’t work even a week after the supposed shipping date.
7. The sets are fast becoming more aggravation than they are worth.
8. My credit card has been billed for $2,614.95.
9. If my set is lost or stolen in the mail, I’ll spend more time and money getting my credit card records straightened out.
10. In the end I will have spent time and money and will have no coins to show for it.
11. Isn’t buying coins from the mint fun?
Great, another thread about the ASE/AGE!!!
Chicolini: Mint? No, no, I no like a mint. Uh - what other flavor you got?
<< <i>I think most people are excited about this set because it contains the reverse proof. >>
I think most people are buying it because they are speculators,
hoping the Mint will sell it out so they can jack up the price on ebay.
If I had been a true speculator I would have bought as many as I could have afforded up to the order limit.
But as my previous post indicated, it might just end up being a source of aggrevation.
Q. Why send a $2,610 item via Parcel Post?
A. Because the mint has no respect for its customers.

Unquestionably true for the gold set (at least those buying more than one set and plan to re-sell them quickly). Maybe true for the silver, but not nearly to the same degree.

Parcel post? I got mines via FedEx, w/signature required.

All my gold sets, 3 separate orders, came by overnight fedex. This is the automatic shipping method for anything over $300. Did you ask for parcel post?
Hoard the keys.
So a 50-75% markup even now. I'd call that popularity.

NO!!!
But I would guess that I'm getting screwed because I don't have any coin or hobby related items delivered to my home address. It's going to a PO box.
Still if they spend the money to send your sets via Fedex, why didn't I at least get Priority Mail service?

?????
This thread is about the American SILVER Eagle sets...not the American GOLD Eagle sets, Bill
Btw.....the gold sets, unless someone changed theirs, were sent FEDEX, not parcel post. I've had no gripes with the USMint on shipping these out and I wasn't even in the first group of recipients.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
They always ship $300+ orders by Registered to my PO Box.
well over 100 dollars all by itself. It is a particularly beautiful
coin, due to the wonderful reflectivity of silver. Those who did not take
advantage of this set will certainly regret their oversight. I have 10 sets and
ewxpect to be holding all of them long term. I will not be flipping them, though
I will probably get them graded as first strikes.
